TV star Simmone Jade Mackinnon has shared a sweet tribute to her The Summit co-star Mat Rogers after the show’s finale.

The 51-year-old actress shared a post to Instagram, insisting Mat is a ‘hero’ because he stayed loyal throughout the game.

She also called Mat the ‘one real winner’ after admitting she was ‘shattered’ by the finale result after Charlotte Shelton took home $336,000 while herself and Mat were given $100,000.

‘Wow today has been a strange day…for someone who should be jumping for joy I’ve got a heaviness about me. Like a weighted blanket is holding me down, suffocating me in a way and I’m not really sure how to break free of it,’ she began.

‘I can’t put it into words right now….but what I can talk about freely, truthfully and effortlessly is that @mat_rogers6 is our hero.’

During the show’s finale, Simone made it to the peak of the mountain alongside fellow trekkers Mat and Charlotte.

They believed they’d split the prize money evenly but in a twist, the first contestant to capture the bag would decide how they wanted to split the money.

Charlotte and Mat got to the bag first but the former football star handed the bag to the midwife, unaware of the power he was relinquishing.
