A woman who had been missing for seven years was discovered in a motel by police after they heard her desperate screams.

The suspected trafficking victim, now in her 30s, disappeared in 2017 but she managed to call her parents to tell them she was being held against her will.

She told them she was at a motel in Inkster and asked for help, according to Michigan State Police.

Her family did not know exactly where she was but police believed she was inside the Evergreen Motel.

Officers said her blood-curdling screams led them to that location and they found her inside alone but there were drugs and a gun in the room.

Police arrived at the Evergreen Motel and heard worrying screams which led them to the room.

‘They described it as like a crying, kind of screaming type of noise that lured them to that specific area,’ Michigan State Police Lieutenant Mike Shaw told WXYZ.

The officers managed to force their way inside and they found the woman on her own.

She was physically unharmed but authorities discovered drugs and a firearm in the room.

Police said she was taken to hospital where she is receiving counselling and she has been reunited with her family.

Officers did not reveal further details about how she disappeared and refused to reveal her identity.

Human trafficking detectives are looking into the missing person case.

‘We’ll kind of look at what’s next, right… interview her if a crime did take place such as human trafficking or is it a domestic violence situation or is it different,’ Lieutenant said.

‘I don’t want to use the word kidnapping like somebody grabbed her and took her to that place.

‘It may have started out as a relationship that turns into being held against your will and being trafficked.’

Authorities have identified a suspect but no one has been taken into custody.
