The man was quickly subdued and arrested, regional newspaper Sud Ouest reports. His motivation behind the attack is currently unknown.

French police union Unité SGP released an indignant statement following the incident, and called for security gates to be installed at police station.
‘We are shocked once again by this gratuitous violence committed against the police,’ the statement said, according to Sud Ouest.
‘This attack is violent and traumatic. We remain vigilant regarding the state of health of our injured colleague.
‘Our union organization has contacted our management on multiple occasions for the installation of a security gate.
‘The safety of our colleagues is priceless and we hope to see this long-awaited device arrive as soon as possible,’ it added.
