The Marvels, the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, lived up to low expectations for its box office debut. 

The action adventure starring Brie Larson, 34, Teyonah Parris, 36, and Iman Vellani, 21, as the title characters who battle a villain named Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton, in a post-Thanos universe.

The movie debuted at number one on a very lackluster weekend for theaters, pulling in a mere $47 million, the lowest weekend premiere ever for a Marvel film. 

Following far behind in second place was the fright flick Five Night’s at Freddy’s.

The film kept moviegoers jumping in their seats to the tune of $9 million. 

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour continued to pack movie houses its fifth weekend in theaters.

The concert film recorded during the Grammy winner’s Los Angeles shows earlier this year, has been a hit with fans who want to re-live the show and those who were unable to buy tickets to the sold-out tour.

The Eras Tour earned $5.9 million over the three-day weekend. It has reached fans as far away as Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam, earning nearly $241 million worldwide. 

Director Sofia Coppola’s take on the relationship between Elvis Presley and his first wife is portrayed in Priscilla. 

Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi star in the biopic, which was co-written by Priscilla Presley.

It remained in fourth place, earning $4.65 million.

Killers of the Flower Moon fell to fifth place.

The crime drama, based on a sad chapter in history in which members of the Osage tribe were murdered for their oil rights, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone.

The Martin Scorsese directed drama earned $4.65 million. 

The Holdovers, a sweet drama starring Paul Giamatti and Dominic Sessa as a teacher and student who form a friendship after they are the only two with nowhere to go over the winter holiday, landed in sixth place.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph stars as a kitchen worker who helps them come together for a ‘family holiday.’ 

The film has received a 96-percent fresh rating from critics and audiences seem to agree, giving in a score of 91-percent.

The Holdovers earned $3.2 million. 

Debuting in seventh place was Journey to Bethlehem.
