Dame Joan Collins oozed sophistication as she popped to M&S for a Saturday grocery shop in a cream flat cap and Burberry scarf.

The legendary actress, 90, took to Instagram over the weekend to share that she had headed to the British supermarket for some delicious treats.

She looked as chic as ever for the shopping trip as she paired the flat cap with a matching cream coat, as she giggled at the till with a female cashier.

Joan was also wearing a huge pair of brown sunglasses while inside the shop and sported a vibrant red lipstick as she picked up chicken, salad and a bouquet of roses.

‘So here we are on Saturday afternoon, getting groceries for the weekend,’ she said.

‘We’re getting salads, we’re getting chicken, we might even get these roses they look fine. And it’s not too crowded, not too public. Happy Saturday.’

Joan captioned the post: ‘Saturday is always a great day for shopping #M&S #Happysaturday #groceryshopping #M&Sfood.’

It comes after Joan recounted being starved on the set of Dynasty as show bosses ‘refused to let the cast eat.

She played the role of Alexis Carrington Colby in the American soap for eight years until 1989 and spoke of how the crew gorged on ‘buns and goodies’ while the stars were ‘left looking like stick insects.’

Joining the Loose Women panellist on Monday’s show, she discussed her long-standing showbiz career and the role which kick started it.

Joan began: ‘We weren’t allowed to eat anything in between meals. They had all these buns and goodies that all the crew would eat, they put on two stone. But they would say to us ‘no no no, carrot stick!’

‘If you looked at us all we were like stick insects.’

Joan, who was wearing a jacket from her time on the series, added: ‘This jacket was the only thing I kept from the show because it looks very classic YSL.’

In November of last year, she revealed the very unlikely inspiration for her iconic Dynasty character Alexis, during a ‘flirty’ interview with Louis Theroux.

Speaking about the show, which told the story of a fictional American Dynasty, Joan revealed one of its biggest fans at time was none other than former president Donald Trump, now 78, who influenced her portrayal.

‘I said when I was asked about my character Alexis, who did I think of when preparing, I said ‘well a mixture of Donald Trump’, who was not President then, he was just a businessman’,

‘And a friend of mine who was a very glamorous woman about town who was very clever, so I wanted to have a mixture of them.’

Louis then asked what specific qualities of Trump did she incorporate into the character with the actress pin pointing his ‘ruthlessness’.

But Dame Joan refused to be drawn into a discussion on politics saying: ‘I am trying not to get involved politically. I am an actress so I don’t think we should spout our political opinions.’

Only to quip: ‘Well let’s say that if you played him in a movie people would say ‘No, that’s too over the top.’

Elsewhere in the episode Joan  candidly discussed her own experiences as a young actress in Hollywood.

Despite being best known for the 80s soap she also appeared in movies throughout the 50s and 60s alongside the likes of Hollywood superstars Jayne Mansfield and Paul Newman.

And revealed she was told ‘not to be glam to get parts’.

Louis asked her: ‘Do you not feel completely appreciated?’

Joan replied: ‘I’m not saying I’m not appreciated. I think I have become more, but there’s a grudging kind of, ‘yeah she’s terrific but she cant act she can just play these roles’ and early reviews only talked about the way I looked.

‘The way I swung my hips or the way I made googly eyes at the leading man, they were always half snide.’

Louise asked: ‘Do you care?’, Joan bluntly replied: ‘No. You are bringing it up, I don’t care.’
