Martha Stewart confessed that she cheated on her ex-husband Andrew Stewart during their marriage.

The homemaking expert, 83, revealed that she wasn’t faithful during their 29-year-long union in the bombshell trailer for her upcoming Netflix documentary, Martha.

At one point in the clip, Martha — who was married to Stewart from 1961 until their divorce in 1990 — was giving advice to married women who have been cheated on, before a producer called her out for being unfaithful.

‘Young women, listen to my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s**t. Get out of that marriage,’ the television personality said.

‘Didn’t you have an affair early on?’ the producer quipped, to which Martha replied, ‘Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.’

Martha started dating Andy — who has been her only husband to date — when she was just 19 and he was 23, after they were set up on a blind date.

At the time he was a Yale law student. He then went into publishing and is currently Publisher Emeritus of Fieldstone Publishing, a nature publishing company.

The pair were married for nearly three decades after saying ‘I do’ in 1961.

They welcomed one child together daughter Alexis Stewart, now 59, in 1965.

The couple ultimately divorced in 1990.

After her divorce Martha briefly dated Silence of the Lambs star Anthony Hopkins. She also dated software architect Charles Simonyi on and off for 15 years, from 1993 to 2008.

In 2023, Martha told E! News that she was single.

Following their divorce, Andy went on to marry Martha’s former assistant, Robyn Fairclough, who was 21 years younger than him. They have since divorced, and he has remarried again to Shyla Nelson Stewart.

In 2022, Martha called her divorce ‘terrible’ in an interview with People.

‘Getting divorced was a terrible thing for me, because we were the first to divorce in my family,’ she shared.

‘And that we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I’m very strong, and I’m very motivated to get on with life.’

‘I have survived the rigors of time, of marriage, of childbearing, of building a business from scratch. I have survived very nicely, and I think I make the most of it.’

Martha’s mother, Martha Kostyra, previously told People that the divorce left her daughter ‘badly wounded’, adding, ‘I don’t think she’ll ever get over it.’

The upcoming documentary follows the lifestyle icon all the way from her teens, when she worked as a model, to her becoming the first self-made, female billionaire in the United States, as per the Netflix press release.

The film also ‘illuminates Stewart’s upbringing in a working-class family, compels us to reconsider the scandal that sent her to prison.’

The trailer starts out with Martha asking, ‘What does it feel like to be the first female, self-made billionaire in American history?’ Her only reply is a long laugh.

‘I’m strict and I’m demanding and I’m all those good things that make a successful person,’ she said in a voiceover.

Elsewhere in the trailer for the documentary she discusses her time in federal prison.

The star spent five months in prison in 2004, after she was found guilty on charges including conspiracy and obstruction of justice related to the sale of a stock.

‘I was a trophy for these idiots. I was dragged into solitary, no food or water. Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and turned on high.’

Martha then detailed her triumphant return to work.

‘The cookie cutter house and the cookie cutter life was not for me,’ she said.

‘I just could’ve been a miserable, has-been housewife, but I didn’t let that happen to myself. And I’m so happy I didn’t.’

In September, Stewart notably slammed the film as ‘lazy’ while at the 2024 Retail Influencer CEO Forum, according to The Daily Beast.

‘I try not to talk publicly about the things I don’t like, [as] it’s not good business,’ she said at the time, and then in reference to the doc, added, ‘I can talk a little bit badly about that.’

The star expressed that she felt it was ‘so unfair’ that a large portion of the film was focused on her ‘stupid trial.’

Martha said she ‘had a collaboration contract’ with filmmaker R.J. Cutler, and stated, ‘We were going to be collaborators- and then he had final edit.’

She said that wanted changes to have been made to the second half of the film, but Cutler ‘wouldn’t change anything.’

Stewart further explained that the second part of the documentary, ‘doesn’t mention all my collaborations.’

‘For them not to even have a part in this – it’s not fair, I don’t think, in a story of my life. That’s what really made me, me,’ the star added.

The documentary is set to drop on Netflix on October 30.
