Molly Sims shared some heartbreaking news on Instagram on Sunday night.

Her father, Jim Sims, a/k/a Big Daddy, passed away suddenly but peacefully.

The 51-year-old shared a lengthy post and 10 photos as a tribute to her dad and explained why she’s been absent from social media.

‘Big Daddy passed away suddenly but on his own terms, just like he lived his life. ❤️ My heart is broken,’ Molly – who reflected on how different her summers are now compared to when she was young – wrote.

‘Over the last week, I know I have been vague and frankly absent in my daily postings. The truth is I have been dealing with what every child fears – the loss of a parent. Even more so, the loss of our last living parent,’ her post began.

Molly went on to say that she finds herself in a new place where she can’t pick up the phone for some wisdom from her parents.

She continued: ‘That in between place of no longer having a daddy to call when we just need our dads and realizing we are now truly going to rely on the people they raised and the values they instilled to guide us.’

The carousel of photos contained recent pics with her father enjoying time on a boat, spending time with her kids Brooks, 11, Scarlett, nine, and Grey, seven, and included photos of both of her parents with her kids over the years.

‘There are songs written about the love between a father and daughter and while always complex, no one championed or supported me more and made me a dream chaser than him.

‘If you knew Big Daddy you knew him, yes, as a husband and father, but also as a true businessman who built himself up from the ground. Who never took no for an answer, and never gave up – and also loved a good round of golf,’ she reminisced.

He worked hard to give Todd and I everything we could ever want for – but also inspired us to always work hard and believe in ourselves, which may sound cliche but I know it’s why we are where we are and have accomplished what we have – and no one was prouder of us,’ she gushed.

The love Molly has for her father was clear in the photos as was his love for her and his grandchildren.

‘He loved us more than anything. Our dream was his dream. He taught us to believe in ourselves and take risks when we shouldn’t. You were the center of our universe and Todd and I will miss you more than you can ever imagine,’ she wrote.

‘Big Daddy – I promise to honor your memory by embracing life as you did and striving to be the kind of person you would be proud of. You were not just my father but my luck and that will forever be true.’

She concluded her post by thanking the friends and family who have ‘reached out, shown up and said their prayers.’

‘It’s the circle of life and friends that make it a little easier to keep moving on and living like Big Daddy would want us to.’
