Al Pacino revealed terrifying details about his near-death experience while suffering from COVID-19, where the famed actor’s pulse stopped and paramedics desperately worked to bring him back to life.
Pacino, 84, recalled to The New York Times Magazine how he was ‘sitting there in my house and I was gone’ after falling unconscious while battling COVID-19 at an unknown time.
‘I didn’t have a pulse,’ he told the magazine. ‘In a matter of minutes they were there – the ambulance in front of my house. I had about six paramedics in that living room, and there were two doctors, and they had these outfits on that looked like they were from outer space or something.’
The Godfather actor had one of his employees get him a nurse after he began feeling ‘unusually not good,’ while he had a fever and was dehydrated when he suddenly lost consciousness.
‘I didn’t see the white light or anything. There’s nothing there,’ he said. ‘I’d never thought about it in my life. But you know actors: It sounds good to say I died once. What is it when there’s no more?’

Despite the scary experience, the elderly actor is happy to have his children as ‘consolation’ and his extensive body of work to keep his legacy going.
However, the 84-year-old doesn’t seem afraid of death as he has grown to have a ‘different view of death as you get older.’ Simply brushing it off as ‘it’s just the way it is.’
‘I didn’t ask for it. Just comes, like a lot of things just come,’ he told the magazine, before saying he doesn’t find discussing death ‘morbid.’
As for the movie he believes his youngest child, who was born in June 2023, should watch first? Jack and Jill with Adam Sandler as it’s ‘funny.’
‘It came at a time in my life that I needed it, because it was after I found out I had no more money. My accountant was in prison, and I needed something quickly. So I took this,’ he said.
Pacino’s former financial advisor, Kenneth Starr, pleaded guilty in 2010 to taking $33million from his clients to fund his lifestyle. His fraud caused the actor to owe $188,000 in back taxes to the IRS.
Starr was sentence to seven and half years in prison for the ordeal.
The Oscar winner has had an extensive career, with award-winning films like Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather under his belt, but the actor admits he had more fun doing the job when he was younger.
‘Usually when I make films, I’m not very happy,’ he told NYT Magazine. ‘They can be tedious, but you can go to your camper and do whatever you want.’

‘There’s so many things on YouTube,’ he said. ‘I even like TikTok when I see it.’
He particularly enjoys watching videos about rescue dogs and recently watched a video about a deaf girl getting her hearing again.
‘I love that stuff!’ he told the magazine.
As for his next role, the actor is gearing up to play Shakespeare’s King Lear. He was spotted last month in Los Angeles donning kingly attire.
He also recently helped celebrate his 30-year-old girlfriend Noor Alfallah’s birthday at a star-studded bash.
In an Instagram video from Noor’s 30th celebration shared on Thursday, the couple – who welcomed their son Roman in 2023 – looked smitten as the Oscar-winning actor helped her blow out the candles on her cake.
Pacino has four kids, with his other three children being adults.
He shares daughter Julie Marie with ex Jan Tarrant, and twins Anton and Olivia with ex Beverly D’Angelo.
