Shoppers rushed to Target to take advantage of a massive discount on Amazon’s Kindle that lowered the price from $119 to just $35.
The buying bonanza began after a TikTok user shared how she managed to snap up one of the discounted devices.
The offer only applied to the Kindle Kids 6 inch e-Reader that was released in 2022.
‘So, a little birdie told me, as in a video that I saw on TikTok, that Target are selling the (Kindle Kids) at a really discounted price of $35. So of course, I drove here to see if it’s true.’

She found none on the shelves, so asked a store employee who then emerged from the store room with one of the discounted devices.

‘I jumped a little for joy when they brought it out of the back because there were none on the shelf,’ she said.
Deeva wasn’t the only one to snap up the great deal.
One video commenter said they’d also managed to buy it for $30.
Another commented on her second video, where she unboxed her new Kindle, saying: ‘Getting a Kindle on clearance is such a slay.’
Not every shopper found such luck, with many stores selling out or still selling the device at full price.
One comment said: ‘Clearance prices are NOT at all targets.’
Another wrote: ‘I didn’t make it in time. I missed out.’
‘All the stores in my area are either completely out of stock or they are selling it at full price,’ said another.
The 2022 Kindle is still being sold online at Target for $119. Newer versions are being sold on Amazon for $114

The slashed prices are rumored to be due to the release of a new version of the Kindle coming out shortly.
Deeva responded to one commenter who didn’t make it in time for the sale, she said: ‘It’s been ~rumored~ that a new version of the kindle is coming out next year which is why this was on clearance so I’d keep an eye out for more sales in the future.’
The new Kindle release could bring a better six-inch back-lit screen, faster page turns, higher resolution and bigger text.
The outlet reported that the release of the Kindle could happen sooner than expected, with a new green color instead of the typical black.
