Brisbane radio star Matty Acton has become a grandfather at just 37 years of age.
Matty’s stepson Ethan, 23 and his wife Maddy welcomed their first child, Illyria Fay Acton, into the world on Monday, less than a week out from her expected 5 October due date.
The B105 breakfast host revealed the joyous news to his co-hosts Stav Davidson and Abby Coleman on Tuesday morning.
The trio were discussing a tally that Abby had created to pinpoint the exact birthday when she revealed Matty was the only one who hadn’t ventured a guess.
‘I am going to guess the 30th of September,’ Matty said.
‘That’s yesterday,’ a confused Stav replied before Abby, making the connection, almost jumped out of her seat with excitement.
‘Have you had the baby already?’ she asked before Matty confirmed his new grandfather status with: ‘She was born last night.
The news was met with laughter and shouts of joy from Matty’s co-hosts who were quick to congratulate the radio star.

‘Congratulations on being a granddaddy,’ Abby said.
On Wednesday’s show, Matty added that meeting his granddaughter for the first time was ‘amazing’ adding he hadn’t been to the hospital since his youngest daughter Eden, seven, was born.
‘It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life,’ he said.
‘The last time we were here, we were leaving with Eden, that was the last time we were at the Mater [Hospital].’
He added that he had decided on what he wished to be called.
‘If everyone call now affectionally call me granddaddy it would be greatly appreciated’ he said.

Matty met his wife Esther when he was just 18, during his first radio gig in Toowoomba, and has raised Ethan as his own since he was three years old.
Along with Ethan, the couple share two younger children — Xander, 10, and Eden, 7 — who are already excited to embrace their roles as ‘Yuncle’ and ‘Yaunty,’ short for ‘young uncle’ and ‘young aunty.’
The radio host also took to Instagram on Thursday to share a sweet carousel of images that showed Matty and his family welcoming Illyria Fay into the world.
He looked every inch the doting granddad as he lovingly held the precious bundle in his arms.
