The Met Office has issued an urgent yellow weather warning for dense Autumn fog, with a new map showing the areas affected.
The impacted locations include certain parts of Manchester, Liverpool and Stock-on-Trent.
Temperatures have been noticeably low for this time of year, plummeting to zero and below across parts of the UK.
The Met Office has now warned a thick fog will descend on parts of the country tomorrow, with the urgent weather warning starting at 5am on Monday and ending at 10am.
The yellow warning was issued after a ‘dense’ fog is set to develop overnight that meteorologists anticipate will continue well into the morning.
The Met Office said: ‘It is looking like one of the first occasions in autumn 2024 when we will see more widespread fog developing overnight and lasting well into the morning.’
The Met Office advice states: ‘Some of this [fog] could be quite dense, making journey times longer.
‘Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, leaving extra journey time, or amending plans if necessary. Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey.
‘Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may also be affected; check for updates from your travel company and follow their advice. Be prepared for weather warnings to change: the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.’
