Sam Pang has clarified a wild rumour about his antics at the 2023 Logie Awards afterparty.

The comedian, 50, hosted the prestigious awards ceremony last year and is returning once again on Sunday to helm the big night for a second year in a row.

He was widely praised for his humorous presenting style last year, and celebrated his success with a whole host of Aussie household names after the ceremony.

But a rumour about his night at the Logies afterparty quickly began to circulate, with fellow comedian Mick Molloy claiming he was out partying until 6am.

Mick, 58, who hosts Seven Network’s The Front Bar with Sam, claimed his pal was having drinks with TV veteran Daryl Somers well into the morning.

‘Do you know what I heard? And this is true, [Sam] was in Daryl Somers suite, hotel room, until six in the morning,’ Mick dished on Triple M’s Mick & MG.

Almost a year on, Sam has finally shed light on the rumour as he revealed what really happened after the Logies last year.

When asked about Mick’s claims, Sam joked to news.com.au: ‘Why would you ever believe anything that man says? That man is just a walking load of nonsense.’

However, he then clarified that he did in fact share a celebratory drink with Daryl, but said they then both headed to the official Logies afterparty together.

‘Daryl, I don’t think he would mind me telling you, he invited me up to his hotel room after the show for a celebratory glass of champagne,’ he explained.

‘It was a big thrill, I grew up watching Daryl Somers, so for him to toast the night and say ”well done” was a big moment.’

Funnyman Sam will be hosting the Logie Awards for the second year in a row this Sunday, and has given an insight into his plans for the star-studded night.

Appearing on Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren, Sam jokingly warned listeners that he may struggle to get through the famously long ceremony without the help of ‘booze’.

‘I’ll be stumbling out at the end… I may really just not make it,’ he quipped, before adding: ‘No, I had a good time [last year.] It’s great to be back.’

Sam then explained that the Logies Awards ran for a staggering four hours and 10 minutes last year.

Known for his quick wit, Sam joked that the Logies was so long ‘people can have a midlife crisis in the middle of the ceremony’.

Channel Seven’s Logies telecast last year was a ratings blockbuster for the network, drawing in an impressive 877,000 viewers.

Fans credited Sam Pang hosting as the secret for the show’s success, with many tuning in to the Logies for the first time just to see him.
