Nick Nolte made a rare sighting while stocking up on groceries at Pavilions in Malibu, California.

While running his errands, the 83-year-old actor, who has received a Golden Globe Award as well as nominations for three Academy Awards over his decades-long career in Hollywood, was dressed in a white linen shirt and gingham pants.

His wild unruly silver mane stuck out in all directions as he walked back to his car carrying a single shopping bag in his hand.

Although he has taken a step back from the spotlight over the years to live a quieter life in Malibu, alongside his wife Clytie Lane and their 16-year-old daughter, the star was recently cast in the upcoming crime thriller The Ploughmen.

The film, which is an adaptation of Kim Zupan’s acclaimed neo-noir novel, The Ploughmen, will be directed by Ed Harris and also stars Bill Murray and Owen Teague.

The film will ‘go into production in Montana’ this fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the film’s synopsis: ‘John Gload (Nolte) is a killer so adept at his job that only now has he been apprehended. Val Millimaki (Teague) is low man in the Copper County Sheriff department. As Val continues his unlucky streak of finding dead bodies, Sheriff (Murray) puts him on night duty to try and get Gload to reveal his past. Val finds much in common with his prisoner, and dangerously seeks counsel from him.’

Nolte also recently guest-starred in an episode of Poker Face, the new whodunit series on Peacock starring Natasha Lyonne as an amateur detective who can always tell when someone is lying.

The father-of-two has also been cast in the pandemic-set psychological drama, Shelter Me, which will have him reunite with his co-star from The Deep, Jacqueline Bisset, 78.

The plot follows an artificial intelligence research scientist who develops a remote monitoring system that exposes personal struggles, weaknesses and strengths during the isolation caused the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over his legendary career, the Omaha has worked with some of the industry’s biggest stars, including Julia Roberts.

The Pretty Woman actress, 56, famously blasted Nolte for his alleged crude behavior on set while they filmed I Love Trouble (1994).

When asked if they ever repaired their rift, Nolte said he never reached out to her.

Their feud came while they were shooting the 1994 movie, in which they playrival newspaper reporters in Chicago.

Around halfway through production of the romantic-comedy crime film, Roberts publicly aired their tensions by calling Nolte ‘completely disgusting’ during a December 1993 interview with the New York Times.

‘From the moment I met him we sort of gave each other a hard time, and naturally we get on each other’s nerves,’ Roberts said.

‘[While he can be] completely charming and very nice, he’s also completely disgusting,’ she added.

‘He’s going to hate me for saying this, but he seems to go out of his way to repel people. He’s a kick.’

Nolte shot back at the Pretty Woman actress during an interview with the LA Times at the time saying: ‘It’s not nice to call someone “disgusting”.

‘But she’s not a nice person,’ he added. ‘Everyone knows that.’
