The star then added, ‘This was nice though. I received an email from NBC today that said, “Congrats on 2000 shows! You’ve just unlocked a free one month subscription to Peacock.”‘

A screenshot of the email was shown to the audience and Fallon continued, ‘I just want to give a big thank you to everyone for watching, or for at least falling asleep during Chicago P.D. and keeping your TV turned on.’

‘It counts. It means a lot,’ the host expressed, while saying, ‘There are two things keeping me going, night after night.’

‘Entertaining millions of people around the world, and cheap applause from the best live audience we’ve ever had!’ Jimmy said, causing the crowd to cheer in their seats.

‘But you guys have been with me through so much, like back in 2019 when I tried bangs,’ he said, while an image of him with short, straight bangs appeared on the screen.

Fallon was also presented a rectangular-shaped cake that was topped with a sugary, black icing to depict the night sky.

A microphone, the show’s logo, the moon and the Manhattan skyline were also placed on top of the large cake.

Jimmy flashed a cheerful smile and held his arms out as he paused for a memorable photo during the celebration, via People. He humorously told the outlet, ‘2000 shows! We’ve conquered quantity, next mountaintop: quality.’

The Roots also joined in to ring in the milestone, as well as the band’s leader and drummer, Questlove.

The record producer opened up to the publication and gushed, ‘Celebrating our 2000th episode with everyone here is amazing.’

‘Being part of The Roots and bringing our music to late-night TV has been an absolute joy, and we’re deeply honored to have contributed to the show’s enduring legacy.’

Tariq Trotter, also known as Black Thought and the lead MC of The Roots, shared his thoughts on the landmark as well.

‘Reaching our 2000th episode is a testament to the dedication of everyone at The Tonight Show,’ the musician expressed.

‘It’s been a wild ride of music. I’m excited to celebrate this milestone with my family here and can’t wait for what’s next.’

Celebrity guests Shawn Levy, Dave Bautista and the music group, Glass Animals, were also in attendance for the special milestone.

A few months earlier in May, Fallon celebrated his 10th anniversary of hosting The Tonight Show – which began airing in 1954. Previous hosts have included other comedians such as Johnny Carson, Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien.

‘I feel pretty good. I still love what I do. I love talking to people. I feel like it’s getting even more fun because I have grown up with these people now, and I have seen them – their highs their lows,’ Jimmy told Entertainment Tonight.

‘I’ve seen bad boyfriends. I’ve seen good boyfriends. I’ve seen them get married and have kids and the kids grow up.’

‘I mean, I’ve seen a lot of stuff in the 10 years of The Tonight Show and I’d love to go on longer and just keep making more memories and making more friends. It’s truly a dream come true.’

Last month in June, the star also renewed his deal through 2028 with the NBC late-night talk show.

‘For nearly 30 years, I’ve brought laughter into the homes of millions and charmed audiences from the stages of 30 Rock,’ he started in a statement.

‘It’s been a privilege to be at the helm of the The Tonight Show and I’m thrilled to see what innovations me and the incredible staff will deliver in the years to come at the network,’ added Fallon. ‘No, I’m not changing my quote. Tell Mark to change his.’

He was referring to NBCUniversal Media Group Chairman Mark Lazarus, who shared an almost identical statement in the same news release.

The renewal comes after Fallon was accused in September of creating a ‘toxic work environment’ on the show by 16 current and former staffers.

They alleged in a Rolling Stone article that Fallon is known for his ‘outbursts’ and ‘hissy fits,’ forcing employees to sob in ‘crying rooms’ and resulting in several of them having suicidal thoughts.

A source told DailyMail.com at the time, ‘The things being reported in this article happened years ago and just aren’t reflective of the atmosphere today.’

Fallon reportedly apologized to staffers in a Zoom call. ‘I feel so bad I can’t even tell you,’ he told them in the call, which employees said ‘felt pretty earnest.’

‘It’s embarrassing and I feel so bad,’ he allegedly said. ‘Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends… I feel so bad I can’t even tell you.

‘I want the show to be fun, [it] should be inclusive to everybody. It should be the best show,’ Fallon added.
