A wife jailed over a petrol bomb plot against her mother-in-law went ‘crazy’ when her husband cheated on her, can reveal.

Mother-in-law Christina Place found her car ablaze after it was petrol-bombed outside her home in Wrexham, North Wales, in a revenge attack.

Their feud had been ignited because daughter-in-law Alisha Anwar, 29, felt her mother-in-law thought she wasn’t ‘good enough’ for her son.

Ms Place told that mother-of-two Anwar was ‘obsessed’ with her son, who does not want to be named, and they had a ‘toxic’ relationship.

She said Anwar was a ‘lunatic’ who threatened to slash his clothes and trainers.

The 54-year-old said Anwar accused him of ‘cheating on her’ and made a reference to another woman ‘more than 20 times’ in angry videos she sent to him.

Anwar once banged on her door ‘accusing him of cheating on her’ but they had only been seeing each other for two weeks, her mother-in-law said.

Ms Place said her son ‘admitted to cheating on her on one occasion’ but his wife got him arrested after she went to the police and ‘made up a number of false allegations’.

His mother said that Anwar ‘wasn’t going to be happy until she took his soul’ and even ‘pleaded with him to take her back’ and said she only went to the police ‘out of revenge’.

Ms Place said her son, who is an accountancy student who hopes to work in Dubai, ‘would never have gone off with someone else’ if ‘she had treated him better’.

Anwar eventually hired Luke Williams, 25, for £150 to torch Ms Place’s vehicle behind her house.

She was jailed for 16 months earlier this month and given a two-year restraining order to protect her mother-in-law over the June 2022 attack.

Anwar admitted conspiracy to commit arson and is now locked up in HMP Styal in Cheshire.

A family relative said: ‘He regrets the day he ever met her.

‘The woman can’t let go of him. Even last month before she was jailed over all this nightmare, she sent him a message saying she wanted to get back with him.

‘She told him she loved him and wanted him back.

‘It’s real Fatal Attraction stuff.’

Mold Crown Court heard that Ms Place was in her living room at about 1am on the morning of the fire when her dogs started barking.

She looked out and saw an ‘orange glow’ by a fence panel and soon realised her car was on fire.

Ms Place emerged from her home to find her car ablaze.

Flames spread to two other cars and a property which had to be evacuated.

It took two fire crews 90 minutes to bring the inferno under control during the ‘terrifying’ incident.

The judge said it ‘almost beggared belief’ that Williams bought petrol from a garage and filled a jerry can with it before targeting the parked vehicle.

Williams, of Pentre Maelor, Wrexham, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson.

He was jailed this week for 16 months with eight more months, activated from a suspended sentence, to run consecutively.
