A race marshal narrowly avoided death after a car came flying towards him and smashed into a concrete barrier after it lost control on the road.

The lucky man looked unfazed as the high-speed vehicle left the ground and smashed into a metal fence barrier which he had been standing behind.

The impact sent the structure, which had a concrete support, toppling over and broke the car into a number of pieces, as the main body of the motor skimmed over the marshal’s head and eventually made a return to the ground.

Neither the driver or the marshal were reported to have been injured in the crash which is reported to have taken place at the BARC MotoFest event in Coventry.

Footage recorded by one of the spectators shows the vehicle weaving through the course’s chicanes during one of the event’s races and slamming into the final barricade on that stretch of the track.

This initial impact is heard with a loud bang and sends the driver off course as his motor then travels into a second barrier located on the side of the track.

After colliding with the second barrier, the fast-moving vehicle comes off the ground and smashes into the metal fence, which the marshal is stood behind.

The damaged car eventually comes to a stop after it crashes into the third and final obstacle.

Other than slightly ducking to avoid the car as it comes towards him, the marshal barely moves but appears unharmed by the incident.

The MotoFest event, which celebrates Coventry motoring heritage, took place between May 31 and June 2, but footage of this crash only surfaced on social media on Saturday (June 15).

The video was posted onto X, formally known as Twitter, with the caption: ‘OMG HOW LUCKY WAS THAT MARSHAL.’

The nine second clip has been viewed more than 3 million times already, with users shocked by how fortunate the marshal was to be left unscathed following the ordeal.

‘Absolutely cannot stop watching this. Insane,’ one person commented.

Another said: ‘He either needs a lottery ticket or he just used up all the luck of four lifetimes,’

‘Wow! He just lost all of his cat lives right there,’ a fourth said.
