Bob Mortimer has admitted he wishes he had ‘done more’ with Jim Moir as he revealed the iconic comedy duo have ‘drifted apart’ in recent years.
The comedian and his former co-star, known for his alter-ego Vic Reeves, shot to fame in the early 90s with their surreal comedy and soon became household names.
But after their stint on Vic and Bob’s Big Night Out in 2019, the pair, both 65 and known for their time on Shooting Stars, soon drifted apart as they got older.
Speaking to Richard Herring on his RHLSTP podcast, he confessed that he wished he did more with his former co-star.
‘I got on great with Jim, but no, we’re both doing our own little things at the moment’, he said.

‘We had a lovely time, but you get older.
‘I wish I’d done more with Jim, you know, when we were younger, because now, we have drifted apart.
‘As I get older, I think of all the lovely people I’ve known and don’t see them anymore – it just seems to happen.’
Their slow breakdown of their duo has been no secret as Jim first admitted their separation in April, 2023.
Jim told The Times: ‘We never really speak much. Bob and I have never been ones for talking on the phone.
He added: ‘We’ll see him now and then and have a chat about things.’
Jim went on to reveal that he’s ditching his alter-ego, Vic Reeves, saying: ‘We’ve had offers from everywhere. But I’m not doing any more. I’ve given up. I’ve done that.’
He spoke to the publication about his upcoming show Painting Birds with Jim And Nancy Moir as he travels the country with his wife Nancy Sorrell looking at and painting regional birdlife.

Yet while Bob presents a series with Paul Whitehouse entitled Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, Vic said that he and his former Shooting Stars co-host ‘haven’t discussed’ the similarities between the two shows.
The duo’s Channel 4 series, titled Vic Reeves Big Night Out, made its debut in 1990.
While only fifteen episodes aired across its two seasons, the show quickly became a cult favourite, and shot Vic and Bob into the comedic limelight.
The series gained popularity for its wacky array of characters, including Les, The Man With The Stick and The Ponderers, as well as its famous line: ‘You just couldn’t let it lie.’
They went on to host quiz show Shooting Stars on BBC2 from 1995 until 1997, before returning for a three series reboot in 2008.
