A woman was mauled by a shark while swimming at a beach.
Emergency services were called to the scene following the attack at Jurien Bay Beach, in Western , at 11.50am on Monday.
The woman, aged in her 40s, is understood to have been bitten on her leg with the extent of her injuries unknown.
A St John WA spokeswoman said an RAC Rescue Helicopter is on standby.
A Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development spokesman said an investigation has been launched.

‘DPIRD is working with local authorities and further information will be provided as it becomes available,’ he said.
A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said volunteer firefighters were assisting with the incident.
