He bought the £15 million property with the hope to make it into the perfect family home, but never moved in.

But now the Mail can reveal that following the sale of his house in Holland Park, West London, Simon Cowell has decided to live in his Wimbledon mansion at last.

The music mogul, 64, has decided to make the Georgian property his home with fiancée Lauren Silverman and their nine-year-old son Eric.

Simon bought the six bedroom house five years ago, and spent £1 million on renovating it.

However, he then chose to try and sell the property, before opting to rent it out instead.

Friends say that he was keen to lead a ‘quieter life’ as he approached 60 but his refusal to move into the home in Wimbledon, South West London, prompted much mystery.

But it was his Britain’s Got Talent co-star Ant McPartlin who revealed his relocation, saying that Simon visits the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! host at the nearby home he shares wife Anne-Marie Corbett.

Speaking on Instagram, Ant said: ‘Simon Cowell’s just moved in round the corner from me. He comes round for tea and biscuits. Well he doesn’t eat the biscuits – I do.’

His best pal and presenting partner Declan Donnelly then asked why and Ant said: ‘Well I mean he doesn’t eat, have you seen the size of him lately?’

In August, Simony sold his Holland Park home for £15 million. It was there that he was victim to a series of break-ins that left him in ‘constant fear’ of his family’s safety.

The X-Factor judge had lived in the six-bedroom property for 16 years and decided to keep it as his primary home – despite having bought the mansion in Wimbledon.

Having never lived in the new property and despite spending £1 million to ‘tailor it to meet his family’s needs’ he chose to put it up on the market for £18 million in 2021.

But before that, Simon is said to have stripped the 1900s period house back to brick, removing walls, ceilings and floors.

New suites are thought to have been installed in the six bathrooms, while there is a new kitchen on the ground floor of the three-storey home alongside five reception rooms.

Other features include a gym, a large playroom and a double garage, while plans have been approved for a swimming pool in the half acre landscaped grounds.

In August, it was reported Simon had decided to leave London to start a new life in the country with Lauren, 46, and Eric, as well as her son Adam, 18, from a previous marriage.

It is understood that that home will be more of a weekend abode for the family.

Simon also owns a £18.3million home in Los Angeles which he bought in 2017, which boasts six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and sits on 1.63-acre estate overlooking the ocean.

Outside, the property has a plunge pool and hot tub, a barbecue area and a koi pond, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the space.

The property also has a tennis court, however, it is reportedly used as an overflow car park.
