A heartbroken family have said their ‘perfect’ 13-year-old daughter will be ‘missed beyond measure’ after she was found dead in woodland.

The body of Kiera Devine was discovered near Tudor Grange Park in Solihull, West Midlands on Monday, following welfare concerns.

West Midlands Police confirmed that her death was not being treated as suspicious.

Kiera’s family said they were devastated by the loss, which has left a community grieving.

Her aunt, Olivia Merchant, described her as a ‘perfect girl in a world that is not so perfect’.

‘Kiera was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin who will be incredibly missed,’ Olivia told BirminghamLive.

‘A girl who was unapologetically herself and never strayed away from who she wanted to be. Though we aren’t too sure how to navigate through this pain, as a family, we will do it together.

‘Kiera you are loved beyond words and will always be missed beyond measure. We love you so much. Sweetheart, you can rest now.’

Confirming the incident, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said on Tuesday: ‘We were called just before 5pm yesterday following concerns for the welfare of a 13-year-old girl in Solihull.

‘Tragically, a short time later the youngster’s body was found in woodland near Tudor Grange Park. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

‘The youngster’s family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this awful time.’

West Midlands Ambulance said two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a trauma doctor, critical care paramedic and community first responder attended the scene and administered life support, but nothing could be done to save her.

A fundraising campaign to support Kiera’s family has so far raised more than £16,000.

‘No parent should have to go threw the trauma of losing a child, especially in such awful circumstances!’ a post on the account reads.

‘Kiera was such a beautiful intelligent young soul with her whole life ahead of her who will now be forever 13 due to the being a victim of this cruel world.’
