EuroMillions lottery winner Jane Park was left ‘devastated’ today after her former boyfriend Marc Webley was shot dead during Hogmanay celebrations at a pub.

Armed police raced to the Anchor Inn in Edinburgh just before midnight after the 36-year-old gangster was gunned down outside while partying with friends.

Webley had been carrying weapons wherever he went and is understood to have told close friends he was expecting an attack, according to the Daily Record.

Miss Park, who famously won £1million in 2013 aged 17 before spending most of it on plastic surgery and shopping, had been in a relationship with him until last month.

Posting a picture of them together on her Instagram Stories today, she revealed they had spoken only yesterday and he had taught her ‘some valuable things in life’.

She wrote: ‘I can’t believe I’m writing this. We spoke yesterday. If I could cuddle you again and tell you everything is going to be OK I would give anything to do it, Marc.

How Jane Park became youngest EuroMillions winner – then blew it on surgery and shopping

Jane Park famously won £1million in 2013 aged 17 before spending most of it on plastic surgery and shopping,

When she became Britain’s youngest EuroMillions winner, her first purchases were a Louis Vuitton handbag and a Chihuahua puppy.

Miss Park, now 28, also vowed to spend her winnings on a customised white Range Rover, a season ticket for her beloved Hibernian and a holiday in Ibiza with her friends.

In 2014 she starred in the BBC documentary Teenage Millionaire: The Year I Won the Lottery after a TV crew followed her for 12 months.

But by 2015 she returned to working in a chip shop and said she preferred holidays in Magaluf and Benidorm to hanging out in top resorts in exclusive locations.

Miss Park also bought a three-bedroom detached home in an estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh but quickly moved back with her family in Niddrie after feeling lonely.

In recent years she has built up a following on OnlyFans and claims to have made more than £25,000 selling topless photographs of herself.

Previously Miss Park had been posting pictures of them together on social media until a few weeks ago when she wrote on December 17: ‘There’s nothing worse than being single on a Sunday.’

Today, Webley’s older brother Don posted a picture of him on Facebook and friends wrote their condolences underneath – including Miss Park, who posted a heart emoji.

Another friend said in response: ‘Sorry for your family’s loss mate, RIP Mark.’ A third added: ‘So sorry to hear, Don. Thoughts with you and the family mate.’

And a fourth posted: ‘Totally gutted, stay strong, thoughts are with you all.’ A fifth wrote: ‘Sorry for your loss bud, condolences to all the family.’

One gangland source told the Record: ‘Don posted on his Facebook that Marc went the day he wanted, the way he wanted and then laid down the gauntlet by saying ‘come and get it’.

‘There’s going to be wars in the city if Marc has been murdered.’

Police locked down Granton Road and Granton Crescent outside the pub while investigating the incident after local residents reported hearing gunshots.

One local told the Record: ‘I thought it was fireworks at first then saw all the blue lights, ambulances and armed police. It was bedlam just before the bells.’

A Police Scotland spokesperson said at about 2am today: ‘Road closures are in place on Granton Road and Granton Crescent following an incident which was reported to police around 11.50pm on Sunday, December 31.

‘Officers are at the scene and closures will remain in place while enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.’

contacted Police Scotland this afternoon for an updated statement.

Miss Park previously shared a picture of herself with Webley on Instagram in a bar with the soundtrack of Sir Elton John’s 1994 hit Can You Feel The Love Tonight?.

The pair were also seen one day later in a bar at Edinburgh’s Village Hotel – and she later shared a post from an influencer in an apparent reference to the relationship.

It said: ‘If it makes you happy f***ing go for it’. ‘People are gonna talk about you regardless because if they talked about themselves, no one would listen.’

In October 2022, Webley was cleared of two attempted murders at the High Court in Edinburgh after being accused of trying to ram a car off the road.

He denied repeatedly slamming his car into another vehicle carrying driver Richard Hughes and passenger Lyndsay McLaughlin while travelling at up to 65mph.

Ms McLaughlin gave evidence at the trial but said she was unable to identify their attacker, and prosecutors decided not to proceed with the charges in light of this.

In 2006, Webley was jailed for 11 years at Glasgow’s High Court for attempted murder after being the gunman in a gangland-style ambush on a motorbike.

The victim Peter Simpson was shot in the back in the Granton area of Edinburgh in January the previous year near his home. Webley was wearing a balaclava in the attack and sprayed Mr Simpson with five bullets but only one round hit him.

He sped off on the motorbike with co-accused James Tant – who was also jailed for his part in the attack – and bleeding Simpson was able to make his way to hospital.
