A man, 22, has died after his car smashed into a pole in Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to the scene at St Georges Road in Fitzroy North at about 11:40pm on Wednesday.
Police believe the vehicle collided with the pole, rolled, and eventually stopped on its side outside a church.
The young man was the only person in the vehicle and died at the scene.
Fire Rescue Victoria was called following reports the driver was trapped in the car.

‘That was reduced quickly,’ an FRV spokesperson told Daily Mail .
‘It under control by the time FRV turned up and became a police scene.’
Investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
St George’s Road was closed in both directions between Reid Street and Church Street.
Trams on Route 11 were also impacted by the accident.
