A young n has called out those celebrating Schoolies as he uses the time to focus on advancing his financial goals instead.
More than 20,000 school leavers flocked to the Gold Coast on Saturday to kick off Schoolies, a week-long celebration marking the end of Year 12.
While many revellers enjoyed festivals, beach clubs, and pool parties, Jake Sultana opted to stay on the grind, prioritising work over partying.
He shared a video from his waterfront apartment that showed a bird’s-eye view of the lively beach celebrations below as he worked on his laptop, where he was focused on trading stocks.
‘Point of view, they literally party while you get further ahead,’ he captioned the video.
‘Crazy, everyone is ready to party on the beach,’ Sultana said.
‘And your boy, well, what else would I be doing? Man’s looking to get better and improve on this.
‘So, yeah, everybody’s out here on the beach partying and stuff while I’m doing what I can to stay where I am in life and get even further ahead.’
Earlier this year, he achieved two major milestones: purchasing his first home and his dream car – a 2021 BMW M4 Competition G82, which typically costs around $143,000.
Some social media users praised the young Aussie for his work ethic and encouraged him to continue towards his goals.
‘Partying is overrated. Work hard while you’re young. Enjoy your 40s with money in the bank. Trust me,’ one wrote.
‘You’re making good decisions about your future. Your financial stability is important, especially for your family,’ a second added.
A third said: ‘If you want something so bad sacrificing partying and useless things like that means nothing. Keep up the grind bro. This is how the one percent live.’
However, some disagreed with his decision to work overtime, arguing that he should just enjoy his youth.
‘Markets are closed on the weekends go party while you can, you’ll be old before you know it,’ one said.
‘Relax and go enjoy Schoolies. You only go there and experience it once,’ a second person added.
A third commented: ‘Bro’s gonna wake up at 40 and realise he wasted the best years of his life grinding for money that won’t come with him once he’s in the ground.’
