A man has died and another has suffered critical injuries in a workplace accident in Sydney’s northwest.
The incident occurred at a Meriton worksite on Pennant Hills Road near Shirley Street in Carlingford about 9am on Tuesday.
It is believed to have involved concrete pumping equipment, though investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
Paramedics treated two men at the scene.
One man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Westmead Hospital and has since died from his injuries.
The other man, aged in his 30s, remains at Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said a crime scene had been established and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
A Meriton spokesperson said the company was left ‘devastated’ by the incident.
‘Our hearts go out to their families, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,’ they told Seven News.
‘We extend our deepest condolences and stand with them in their grief and pain.’
The incident has been referred to SafeWork NSW.
In June, roads were closed following a separate incident at the same worksite involving an unstable crane.
No one was injured in that incident but upwards of 350 workers and residents were reportedly evacuated as a precaution.
