A young woman’s horror has been revealed after she spent three days trapped in pitch darkness behind a basement wall after falling between a narrow gap between houses.
The unnamed 22-year-old fell between the walls of two buildings in the Russian resort city of Sochi, but it was not clear how many floors she fell down, local media reported.
She was screaming for help in the dark and damp space described by authorities as a ‘dungeon’ before being rescued.
One of the rescuers can be seen peering over the wall into the darkness before locating the woman.
The team then takes to the wall with a pneumatic drill and a sledgehammer before the dust-covered and shoeless woman emerges and uses the last of her energy to clamber free feet-first.

She told her rescuers she had called for help for three days before someone finally heard her and she was rescued.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said in a statement: ‘A 22-year-old girl spent three days in a dungeon. It all happened in a four-storey building in Sochi.
‘A local resident heard a woman’s cries for help behind the wall and went down to the basement of the house. As it turned out, the victim fell from the attic and ended up between two walls in the house.
‘To get to her, employees of the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Team of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry had to dismantle part of the brickwork. Rescuers handed the girl over to doctors.’
