Police have released a picture of a man and a woman they want to track down after an 84-year-old woman had £500 stolen from her handbag while she was at church.

The victim was followed ‘for some distance’ as she made her way to the Our Lady of Grace Church on Fairfax Road in Prestwich on October 16, before she was ‘confronted’.

The elderly lady was ‘distracted’ by one of the pair, while the other reached into her handbag and grabbed an envelope containing £500 in cash. They both then left the church.

Officers now want to speak to the man and woman pictured about the incident, which happened at around 11.55am last Monday.

Anyone who recognises the pair should contact Greater Manchester Police.
