Dr Chris Brown is preparing to begin his first official hosting duties at Channel Seven, following his defection from Ten four months ago.

And an industry insider believes the celebrity vet, 45, is invariably feeling ‘nervous’ about his new gig – especially the prospect of hosting Seven’s new renovation series Dream Home by himself.

Speaking to Woman’s Day magazine on Monday, TV commentator Steve Molk said Brown would be forgiven for feeling the ‘pressure’ of helming a primetime show without a co-host to fall back on.

‘This is the first time he’s really had to take on the entirety of the focus from critics and audiences alike, and the reality renovation space has not been kind to Seven’.

Indeed, Seven’s previous attempt at rivalling Nine’s rating juggernaut The Block with renovation series House Rules ended with the series being axed in 2020 amid poor ratings.

Molk noted that Brown won’t be lacking in support from his bosses at Seven as he takes the spotlight for the first time since departing I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Dream Home will be based on the successful New Zealand series of the same name which aired from 1999 to 2013.

The series will be made by production company Endemol Shine and will begin filming this year, but won’t air until early 2024.

Brown inked a multi-year deal with Seven in February to produce unspecified ‘new projects’ for the station.

Aside from hosting Dream Home, he will also co-host Dancing With The Stars alongside Sonia Kruger.

Brown started his TV career in 2003 as a presenter on Harry’s Practice on Seven, a role that earned him a Logie nomination for Most Popular New Talent.

He joined Ten in 2008 to host Bondi Vet, which became a surprise ratings hit and was syndicated around the world.

The factual series was based on his real-life experience as a vet at the Bondi Junction Veterinary Hospital in Sydney’s east.

He went on to become a part-time panelist on The Project and also co-hosted I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and The Living Room, which was axed last year.
