The star-studded cast of This Is England sent fans completely wild this week as they prompted reunion rumours after reuniting for a Christmas catch-up.

Thomas Turgoose took to Instagram to share a beaming snap with his former colleagues, including Vicky McClure and creator Shane Meadows, as they enjoyed a festive meal out.

Fans were sent into a frenzy as they laid eyes on the familiar faces back together once again and called for them to return for one more series of the popular drama.

This is England was a huge success and led to three subsequent TV series focusing on the characters in the years 1986, 88 and 90, which ended in 2015.

Amid the reunion rumours, takes a look at where the cast of This Is England are now and what they have been doing since the smash hit 2006 film.

VICKY MCCLURE

Vicky McClure, 40, has seen huge acting success since her days starring as Frances Lorraine Woodford, known as Lol, in This Is England.

Though she is now instantly recognisable for her role in Line Of Duty, she was first known as factory worker and single mother Lol in the hit drama series.

She had a supporting role in the This Is England film and became one of the more central characters in the following spin-off TV series.

Since then, she has gone to carve out a hugely successful career as a drama actress and has become a household name in British television.

Vicky is now best known for her smash hit role as Detective Inspector Kate Fleming on Line Of Duty, where she starred alongside Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar.

After six series of anticipation surrounding the much-questioned identity of corrupt officer ‘H’, it was finally revealed to be Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells, played by Nigel Boyle, as the show came to an explosive end in 2021.

Vicky has since hinted that she would love to return to AC12 and reunite with her Line Of Duty castmates, but hinted that scheduling could be an issue as Martin,  who played Detective Inspector Steve Arnott, is very busy.

Speaking on GMB, she said: ‘I speak to the lads all the time, we’d all love to, we’re all game – Martin’s in nine shows! It’s busy, I’m sure we’ll get there.’

Since Line Of Duty’s epic finale, Vicky has joined the cast of Trigger Point and is gearing up for the second series to be released next month.

The crime series sees Vicky play ex-military bomb disposal expert Lana Washington, an Afghan war veteran now leading the Metropolitan Police bomb squad.

It centres on Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad officers who risk their lives daily on ‘the long walk’ towards danger.

Series one focused on a terrorist campaign that threatened the capital over the summer with the bomb disposal operatives or ‘Expos’, at the forefront of urgent efforts to find out who is behind the bombings before fatalities escalate.

Nearly 11 million viewers watched the first episode and the series averaged 9.24 million viewers per episodes 1-4, as the audience enjoyed the series on ITV, ITV Hub and BritBox.

Season 2 will see Lana and her officers up against a terrorist group targeting London, leaving clues for them to find as they prepare to attack in different locations.

As well as her on-screen success, Vicky was made an Member of the Order of the British Empire [MBE] by King Charles III at Windsor Castle earlier this month.

She appeared over the moon as she was given the honour, which recognises services to drama and to charity.

In August, Vicky also tied the knot with her fiancé Jonny Owen in a romantic ceremony in Nottingham.

Vicky and Johnny, 54, were serenaded by the Dementia Choir – a singing group formed of people all living with dementia – which she helped to fund.

During their big day, they were joined by a host of celebrity guests including her Line of Duty co-stars Martin, Adrian and Craig Parkinson.

Football manager Rob Page, Everton manager Sean Dyche and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness also attended.

STEPHEN GRAHAM

Stephen Graham played ringleader and skinhead Andrew ‘Combo’ Gascoigne on This Is England, but was notably absent from the 2023 cast Christmas reunion.

The actor, 50, secured his breakout role in the cult classic 2006 film and has gone on to soar to huge acclaim with decades of iconic roles.

It was on the set of This Is England ’86 that he met his wife Hannah Walters, whom he married in 2008 and has children Grace and Alfie with.

Since his This Is England days, he has become a staple face on British television and has starred in hugely successful projects including The Walk-In, Time and Bodies, while he also worked with Vicky on Line Of Duty.

Stephen saw huge success with 2021 independent film Boiling Point, which followed his chef character Andy Jones as he endured the night from hell in his kitchen.

The tense film earned a spin-off series and the sequel finally arrived on screens in October, with fans commenting on how ‘stressful’ the drama was to watch.

The series invited viewers once more behind the swing doors of a high-class eatery for a serving of nerve-jangling tension, with his number two Carly (Vinette Robinson) helming her own restaurant while Andy brooded after losing his eatery.

Stephen has been recognised for his massive on-screen success and received royal honours during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace earlier this year.

He was made an OBE for services to drama and he dedicated the honour to his mother, who he announced on December 31 last year had passed away.

Stephen was also impressively honoured with the Richard Harris Award at the British Independent Film Awards in November.

The gong recognises an outstanding contribution by an actor to British film and he was handed the award by fellow Liverpudlian Jodie Comer.

As well as soaring to huge success in his own career, Jodie, 30, has also credited Stephen with kickstarting her Hollywood success.

Stephen first recognised her talent in 2012, when they shared a brief scene together in BBC miniseries Good Cop, and he persuaded his agent to take a chance on the young star.

Jodie won a slew of much-loved television roles in the likes of My Mad Fat Diary and Doctor Foster, before rising to global fame as assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve.

JACK O’CONNELL

Jack O’Connell secured a role as a National Front supporter on This Is England after featuring in minor roles on shows including The Bill.

The actor, 33, has previously spoken about the difficulties in his own childhood and how he thinks his background gave him an edge over other stage school actors.

Jack attended a catholic secondary school in Derbyshire, which he described as ‘rough as f***’, and he left with just two GCSEs in English and drama.

He attended a TV workshop in Nottingham and it was there that he made it his mission to pursue a career in acting. He then juggled his auditions around working on a farm to earn money as he tried to make a name for himself.

Jack secured a role in This Is England before going on to get a big break as troubled drug dealer James Cook in 2007’s Channel 4 drama Skins.

Big parts in ’71 and Starred Up followed, but his big break into Hollywood came when Angelina Jolie cast him as Louis Zamperini in Unbroken.

Jack admitted Angelina had to do ‘background checks’ on him due to his criminal past, which made obtaining an American visa difficult, but Angelina championed him and helped him soar to huge success.

‘I haven’t done time, but only by the skin of my teeth,’ he once admitted.

He told The Guardian: ‘It’s just quite hard for me to be open about it. Partly because the stuff I got involved in as a kid was quite serious, and partly because I’ve now got my American visa.

Jack has gone on to find huge success and starred in Tulip Fever alongside Dame Judi Dench and Money Monster with George Clooney, directed by Jodie Foster.

In 2015, he won the Rising Star Award at the EE British Academy Film Awards, beating Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Margot Robbie, Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley.

Jack has soared to Hollywood success since then, and starred alongside Emma Corrin in hit film Lady Chatterley’s Lover last year.

He also secured a leading role in Rogue Heroes and is gearing up to portray Amy Winehouse’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil in upcoming biopic Back To Black.

In his personal life, Jack is believed to be dating hair stylist Imogen Coates and the pair have been seen on an array of cosy outings in recent months.

He also previously dated his Skins co-star Kaya Scodelario for a year and had a brief romance with pop star Tulisa Contostavlos in 2012.

THOMAS TURGOOSE

Thomas Turgoose was just 13 years old when he rose to fame playing Shaun Fields on This Is England.

He secured the role after he was spotted at a youth club by This is England director Shane Meadows, and he went on to nab a British Independent film award for best newcomer.

In the movie, his character joins a skinhead gang – first led by Woody and then Combo – after losing his father in the Falklands War and getting bullied at school and gets roped into attending National Front meetings.

Actor Thomas, now 31, was faced with tragedy during his time on This Is England as his mother Sharon died from cancer not long after they wrapped filming, meaning she never saw him in the movie.

In October, Thomas revealed how Stephen had promised his mother Sharon that he would take care of him and offered to adopt him.

Thomas told Jamie Laing on the Private Parts podcast: ‘My mum passed away from lung cancer after I finished filming This Is England. She never got to see the finished film.’

Thomas was set to live with his father Rob after his mother died but the pair did not know each other well at the time, leading to Stephen and director Shane Meadows offering to take him in.

Thomas said: ‘When my mum died I moved in with my dad and I didn’t know him, so Shane Meadows and Steven Graham were going to adopt me if things didn’t work out with my dad.’

Since his days on This Is England, Thomas has gone on to secure small film roles, including in 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle and 2019’s Avengement.

He also had a minor role in Game of Thrones as a Lannister soldier and featured in 2021 sci-fi series Intergalactic.

Thomas, from Grimsby, has most recently starred in 2023’s action thriller Jackdaw alongside the likes of Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

In 2019, Thomas tied the knot with Charlotte Revell in a New Years Eve ceremony, and the couple keep their romance relatively private.

His This Is England co-stars including his on-screen mother Jo Hartley, Vicky, Stephen, Andrew Shim (Milky) and Andrew Ellis (Gadget) all attended the ceremony.

JOSEPH GILGUN

Joseph Gilgun portrayed gang ringleader Richard ‘Woody’ Woodford in This Is England, with the return of Combo (Stephen) shaking things up in the group.

Joe, 39, had previously starred as Eli Dingle in Emmerdale and Jamie Armstrong in Coronation Street before rising to fame among the cast of This Is England.

He went on to secure a whole host of other TV and film roles before joining the cast of Misfits as Rudy – a character split into two versions of himself.

The actor also featured in popular 2014 movie Pride alongside a star-studded cast including Bill Nighy, Andrew Scott, Dominic West and George MacKay.

In recent years, Joe has found massive success with smash hit Sky comedy series Brassic, which he co-wrote with Danny Brocklehurst and stars in.

The series follows Vinnie O’Neill (Joe) and his five friends, including Michelle Keegan’s character Erin.

The comedy follows the group as they struggle to get by in the fictional town of Hawley in the north of England, and often resort to petty crime for money.

The BAFTA-nominated series began back in 2019, as season four of the show was released last August on Sky Max and Now TV.

When Dylan’s girlfriend Erin (Michelle) wants out to start afresh in a new town, Dylan (Damien Molony) is torn between following her or staying with the pals he thinks of as brothers.

Although not based on a specific true story, the comedy series is loosely autobiographical and is inspired by Joe’s experience growing up in Chorley.

Much like his character Vinnie, Joe has bipolar disorder and has previously opened up about how depression affects his life and laying bare his experiences on Brassic.

‘I’ve laid myself as bare as I can with my mental health and my family and some of the naughtiness I’ve been up to,’ he previously told Sky News. ‘If that had been shunned by the public, that would have been really tough for me.’

CHANEL CRESSWELL

Chanel Cresswell is arguably best known for playing Kelly Jenkins in the This Is England movie and its three subsequent spin-off series.

The actress, 33, from Nottingham, was just 15 years old when she secured the role in the cult classic film.

In 2015, she said of her casting: ‘I was still at school, and part of the Nottingham Television Workshop, when Shane Meadows came down to do an audition.

‘Obviously we all knew it was for a proper film and so we didn’t really think we’d get a look in. I got told that he was interested in me, and it kind of all just went from there.’

When This is England premiered in 2006, Chanel was catapulted to stardom and she won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress in 2016.

Following on from This is England, Chanel went on to star in Sky comedy Trollied and and Dracula, before playing grieving mother Jess in ITV’s The Bay in 2019.

Last year, she took on the role of Coleen Rooney in a TV adaptation of the now-infamous ‘Wagatha Christie’ Trial with Rebekah Vardy.

She portrayed the wife of Wayne Rooney on the show, titled Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama, while Natalia Tena took on the role of Rebekah.

Michael Sheen also joined the cast as he took on the role of her high profile Barrister David Sherborne.

The Welsh actor has previously played real-life figures including former Prime Minister Tony Blair, presenter Chris Tarrant and footballer Brian Clough.

Created from the real court transcripts, the series gave viewers a chance to relive the untelevised scenes from inside the courtroom with all the drama that kept the public and media gripped for weeks.

The two-part film saw Dion Lloyd play former England footballer Wayne Rooney, while Leicester City strike Jamie Vardy will be played by Marci Nagyszokolyai.

Fans were left guessing whether his character was a bent copper throughout the tense series as he filmed scenes alongside Vicky.

He also starred with Vicky in I Am: Nicola in 2019, where the pair portrayed a couple in a dysfunctional relationship.

The mini series followed hairdresser Nicola (Nicky), who is stuck in a coercive relationship with her partner Adam (Perry).

In another crossover, he also featured in a one-off episode of sitcom Trollied – starring his former co-star Chanel.
