n actress Paula Duncan, known to millions of Aussies for her iconic Ajax’s Spray n’ Wipe ad, has a new life as a charity worker.

The veteran performer, 72, who was the n face of Ajax cleaning products from 1988 – 2010, is embracing her role as an advocate for people with disabilities.

‘It’s probably one of the powerful, domineering, incredible things I’ve ever been involved in,’ Paula told New Idea magazine about her ambassadorship for the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival.

Paula said the NSW film festival, which aims to showcase the ‘abilities of people with disabilities’, was a great cause and she was proud to be involved with it.

‘Most people my age don’t do all the things I do. I’m the opposite to that, with a lot going on,’ she added, revealing she had been involved in the sector for 35 years.

The NSW-born thespian added that despite a 50-year career in showbusiness, including many years on Channel Seven’s police drama Cop Shop, she will always be l known as the ‘Ajax  Spray n’ Wipe lady’.

‘That will never leave me. Even to this day, a lot of people who knew the commercial and followed it will sing it to me in the aisles of the supermarket,’ Paula revealed.

‘They will come say hello!’

When she is not doing charity work, Paula keeps herself busy by being a doting grandmother to her grandson Seth, who her daughter Jess gave birth to last year. 

Paula is practically a household name and graced n TV screens throughout the seventies and eighties.

She even received an ‘Order of ‘ award from the Queen and was given a ‘This is your Life’ tribute.

Paula has previously revealed how she feels so grateful to be involved in charity work.

Some of the achievements she is most proud of include raising over $9million for Paralympians and the Special Olympic program, of which she is a patron.

Paula previously said that helping others has been one of the most rewarding things she has ever done.

‘For anyone who is really down or depressed, the first thing you should do before anything else, is do something for someone else. If you do you will feel appreciated and find an element of self worthiness you’ll never have otherwise felt,’ she said.
