Acting roles became scarce and financial pressures mounted, leading him to take up work in a dive bar for a meagre wage.
‘I was back working for eight bucks an hour and tips. It had been a long time since I’d worked for eight bucks,’ he previously said.
After a period of hardship, Whitehead’s career was looking up when he landed a role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which provided much-needed financial relief.

Whitehead recently took a break from the spotlight due to health issues, having undergone four spine surgeries.
Speaking to Daily Mail , he expressed optimism for the future, which includes music and writing.
‘I was out of the scene due to four spine surgeries but I’m now healed up and ready to go,’ he said before Christmas.
‘I’ve been getting right back into music, and writing, which I’m very excited about. 2024, here we come!’
