A man was mauled by a shark while windsurfing off the coast of Perth on Christmas Eve.
The 46-year-old was bitten on the ankle off Wedge Island, north of Lancelin, while at 3pm on Sunday.
The man managed to swim back to shore and take himself to a local nursing post at the pie shop at Wedge.
He received medical attention before he was rushed to Joondalup Hospital for further treatment.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is working with local authorities to coordinate a response.
