An image of JD Vance allegedly dressed as a woman and sporting a blonde wig while a student at Yale Law School has gone viral online, after it surfaced on X last night.

The X account that posted the viral photograph claimed that the photograph, which shows a man in drag, wearing a blonde wig, a black top and a patterned skirt is the US Senator and vice presidential nominee.

While it has not been confirmed whether the viral picture is of Vance, The Daily Beast reported that it was allegedly taken by one of Vance’s classmates in 2012 when he studied at Yale Law School.

The photo was then sent to ‘A Bit Fruity’ podcast host Matt Bernstein, who posted it on the social platform.

‘New: I have obtained a photo of JD Vance in drag while at Yale law school’, the post said.

According to The Daily Beast, a spokesperson for Vance did not deny the authenticity of the image when approached by the publication and did not offer further comments.

The image quickly began trending on Sunday night under the hasthag #SofaLoren, referencing the Italian movie star Sofia Loren.

By Monday morning, the image had 9.5 million views.

has contacted Vance’s team for comment.

This came just after JD Vance called far right commentator Nick Fuentes ‘a total loser’ over racist comments about his Indian wife Usha.

Fuentes said that he wondered ‘if we really expect that [Vance] who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity’.

On Sunday Vance had also made a comment about Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Governor Tim Walz, suggesting that the pair ‘aren’t comfortable in their own skin’ and are trying to convince Americans that Republicans are the weird ones.

‘They’re trying to distract from their own policy failures. I mean look, this is fundamentally schoolyard bully stuff,’ Vance told CNN’s Dana Bash in an interview aired on State of the Union. ‘They can accuse me or whatever they want to accuse me of.’

‘I accept their attacks but I think that it is a little bit of projection.’

Last week, online sleuths claimed that Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick loved to wear eyeliner and accused him of donning a fine line of black makeup to make his eyes look bluer.

Multiple photos shared online claimed to provide evidence that Vance is a fan of eyeliner, which is most commonly worn by women.

Photojournalist Zach Roberts claimed to have definitive proof, writing: ‘I really thought people were joking about this, but then I photographed him last week. Vance 100% does wear eyeliner.’

Also, Vance was accused last month of having sex with a sofa after internet wags claimed his book Hillbilly Elegy had detailed his attempts to make love to a latex glove sandwiched between two sofa cushions.

The rumour is false, but has nonetheless set certain sections of the political class alight.
