The owner of an ice-cream shop in the Lake District has shocked customers with her cheeky new flavour, inspired by a now-notorious scene from Emerald Fennel’s film: Saltburn.

Owner Amy McPherson, 27, said the ice-cream is for fans of the film and heartthrob Jacob Elordi, who became a viral sensation after his star turn in the racy black comedy.

The popular ice-cream flavour, entitled ‘Jacob Elordi’s Bathwater’, is a Lakeland cream, very similar to a Double Jersey — and is ultra thick and creamy.

Saltburn’s explicit bathtub scene has become one of the film’s biggest talking points, leaving some viewers ‘traumatised’.

In the outrageous sequence, Oliver Quick, portrayed by Barry Keoghan, who is infatuated by his fellow pupil Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), secretly drinks his bath water as it drains from the tub.

Amy said: ‘I saw that scene and I was like that’s gross, I love it. I’m here for it. So I thought, can we try and make an ice-cream flavour? Probably, and well here we are.’

Commenting on the film, Amy said: ‘I’m a big fan of Emerald Fennel the director and I was very excited for Saltburn to come out. So when I saw it, I was like ‘Oh Jacob Elordi’s in it, it’s not a bad watch, is it?’.

‘I think its wacky and crazy and Barry Keoghan is a fantastic actor, so I’ll watch anything he’s in. I’m always interested in any movies that are a discussion of class in the UK.’

Amy said the flavour has been getting a lot of attention from the younger generation who have found it hilarious and have been snapping photographs with their ice-cream to share on social media.

But for those who haven’t watched the film, particularly parents of teenagers, it can be difficult for her to explain the reference.

‘I say ‘have you seen Saltburn?’ and they say ‘no’ and I just say, ‘well just go watch the movie’.

The Little Ice-Cream shop has been a top tourist destination since 2016, located in both Hawkshead and Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District.

Amy opened the store when she was 18-years-old as a way to finance her dream of becoming an actress and is heading to Hollywood this month to further her career.

The Saltburn craze has seen hundreds of people rushing to the British countryside to to take in the real ‘Saltburn Mansion’ — Drayton House — featured in the film.

Its success has also helped propel Murder On The Dancefloor, first issued in 2001, back up the singles charts.

In the BAFTA-nominated thriller, Felix, a rich student, invites fellow classmate Oliver to stay at his estate for the summer.

But a series of horrifying events soon engulf Felix’s eccentric family.

Following the bath scene, a number of retailers have started selling candles with a ‘Jacob Elordi bath water’ fragrance.

The cruelty-free cosmetics retailer Lush went a step further by introducing its Saltbomb — a blend of coconut milk powder and mineral-rich coarse sea salt, while sharing a fragrance with the brand’s moisturising bubble bar, Milky Bath.

The celebrated company has gone to great lengths in promoting this product, even having their models pose in a manner reminiscent of Oliver.

According to the Lush website, customers should ‘pop this little pinch of paradise into your bath to create those silky, milky waters’.

‘Lap it up, Saltbomb’s salty, milky bath water is fit for a stately splurge,’ reads the website description.

Lush’s limited edition Saltbomb (£5) is available online and via the Lush app, while stocks last.
