Several US soldiers were injured in a missile attack on an air base in Iraq yesterday as the Middle East conflict escalates.
At least a dozen rockets were fired at the Ain al-Asad base in western Iraq, leaving a number of US troops with minor injuries and a member of Iraq’s security forces seriously wounded.
Also yesterday, four senior members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards – including an intelligence chief – were killed in a suspected Israeli air strike in Syria.

A suspected Israeli drone strike killed two Hamas militants in southern Lebanon, and the US launched another volley of strikes against Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen – at least the sixth this month.
Israel also pounded targets across the Gaza Strip and raided a compound in the city of Khan Younis, where it was claimed rocket launchers were being built.
The attacks came as President Joe Biden said the creation of an independent state for Palestinians was still possible after he had his first phone talk with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since Christmas.
