Officials are asking people to avoid US Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington after reports of an ‘active shooter.’
According to a social media post from the base, law enforcement is addressing the incident near Building 2026 on Lewis Maine which is between Liggett Avenue and Pendleton.
Police have asked the public to stay out of the area as they investigate. No suspects or victims have been identified.
The base is home to I Corps and the 62nd Airlift Wing. I Corps is part of the US Army Pacific and is currently overseeing army units in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Army headquarters is home to more than 40,000 soldiers across the Indo-Pacific. Besides Washington, members are also stationed in Alaska and Hawaii.
