Sir Keir Starmer has today vowed to name and shame rioters as early as possible as he launched a ‘standing army’ of specialist police officers to crack down on violent disorder and speed up criminal justice.
The Prime Minister announced he has asked for the ‘earliest naming and identification’ of thugs causing unrest in towns and cities following a Cobra meeting arranged after a weekend of violence up and down the country.
So far, 344 people have been arrested since the violence broke out on Tuesday with some rioters appearing in magistrates courts today.
