Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito kicked off 2024 with a Twins reunion.

The Terminator actor took to his Instagram on Friday to share a snap of himself hugging DeVito and DeVito’s daughter Lucy DeVito on the set of their Broadway play.

‘My brother! It was fantastic to see Danny on Broadway in I Need That,’ Schwarzenegger captioned the sweet photo. ‘He and Lucy and everybody involved kept the audience entertained, laughing and loving every minute – one of the best plays I’ve ever seen, a true spectacle with heart!!’

Schwarzenegger and DeVito shared the screen in the 1988 film Twins, portraying genetically engineered siblings who only cross paths in adulthood. This marked Schwarzenegger’s first stab at a comedic role, and it proved a huge success at the box office.

‘I can’t wait to work together again,’ the former California governor added in his social media share.

The iconic stars were involved in a long-in-the-works sequel to Twins called Triplets, where the brothers would discover that they’re actually triplets.

There were reports suggesting Eddie Murphy would be joining the cast of the sequel, and more recently, Tracy Morgan was reportedly set to take on the new role.

However, the project was put on hold after the original film’s director, Ivan Reitman, passed away at age 75 in February 2022.

Ivan’s son and Hollywood heavyweight director, Jason Reitman, was then pitched the film but, according to Schwarzenegger, he was the one to give it the red light.

‘Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died,’ Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter in May.

‘His father wanted to do it really badly. I wanted to do it really badly. Danny DeVito wanted to do it really badly,’ he continued.

‘We had the financing. When his father passed away, Jason says, “I never liked the idea’ and put a hold on it.”‘

Schwarzenegger mentioned that he is currently ‘working on another film with Danny’ and went on to say, ‘He’s a joy to collaborate with, and his talent is remarkable.’

During an interview with GQ in November about his role in I Need That, DeVito playfully suggested that Schwarzenegger ‘might have opted for Twins 2 instead of entering politics as governor’.

The True Lies vet took a break from acting during his stint as California’s governor from 2003 to 2011.

Fortunately, the pair are still working on a project together, as Arnold told THR that he was ‘developing another movie with Danny’ instead, adding, ‘He’s so much fun to work with and so talented.’
