alert-–-trump’s-three-word-plea-that-convinced-skeptical-senator-to-back-tulsi-gabbard:-live-updatesAlert – Trump’s three-word plea that convinced skeptical senator to back Tulsi Gabbard: Live updates

Tulsi Gabbard is inching closer to becoming Donald Trump’s Director of National Intelligence following a dramatic intervention from the president.

Republican Sen. Todd Young, who was on the fence about Gabbard, revealed he spoke with Trump, JD Vance and Elon Musk before a crucial committee vote.

He told reporters that on his 10-minute call with Trump, the president told him to ‘vote your conscience.’

RFK Jr.’s nomination also squeaked through after hanging on to the key vote from top Republican Bill Cassidy, who had been torn.

Cassidy, a physician, had major concerns with the former Democrat’s positions on vaccines.

Trump made a last-ditch plea for RFK Jr.’s confirmation, writing on Truth Social ‘We need Bobby!’ on Tuesday morning ahead of the committee vote.

Meanwhile, Pam Bondi cleared a key hurdle last night in the Senate, setting up her final vote for attorney general as soon as today.

The Senate Intelligence Committee votes to push Tulsi Gabbard closer to a full confirmation vote

Sarah Ewall-Wice, Senior U.S. Political Reporter on Capitol Hill:

Tulsi Gabbard cleared a crucial hurdle on Tuesday as the Senate Intelligence Committee voted to advance her nomination to become the top U.S. intelligence official.

Gabbard was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as Director of National Intelligence after the former Democrat backed his presidential bid. But her nomination raised concerns from senators on both sides of the aisle.

The vote came after Gabbard appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week where she faced hours of grilling from Republican and Democratic senators. Lawmakers took issue with her refusal to call Edward Snowden a traitor for leaking highly classified information.

They also raised concerns about her past comments blaming NATO after Russia invaded Ukraine and her 2017 meeting with then-Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. Ahead of the vote today, Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) announced on X that he would support her confirmation after expressing frustration with her during her hearing.

This morning he posted a letter from Gabbard in which she made several commitments to him including holding those suspected of disclosing intelligence without authorization accountable and not making any recommendations on the legal standing of Snowden.

She also wrote that she would inform the committee on any foreign travel and visits with agents or officials from foreign governments.

‘Having now secured these commitments, I will support Tulsi’s nomination and look forward to working with her to protect our national security,’ Young posted.

Heading into the vote, Young said he worked with Vice President JD Vance to get the answers to reassure him.

‘This is how the process is supposed to work. It’s supposed to be a consultative process, and we got the reassurances we needed,’ Young said.

The senator also spoke with President Trump. He claimed it was a ‘very positive’ conversation, and the president told him to ‘vote his conscience.’

It came after two other GOP Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and James Lankford (R-Oklahoma) confirmed on Monday they would back her nomination, helping clear the path for her to move forward.

The nomination now moves before the full Senate where every senator will have the opportunity to vote on her nomination once that is scheduled in the coming days.

Democrats joined activists for a protest outside the Treasury Department in Washington, DC after it was reported billionaire Elon Musk’s DOGE gained access to the Treasury’s federal payment system.

The system sends more than one billion payments totaling more than $6 trillion a year on behalf of federal agencies to millions of Americans.

Democrats warn the access gives the unelected Trump ally and his team the personal information of millions of Americans.

‘The people deserve transparency. The fact that an unelected billionaire has all your private information is a problem,’ said Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost.

‘We know that we work for the American people, and what we not going to do is stand around while they pull this bulls**t that they’re trying to pull right now,’ said Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.

‘We are going to make sure you understand what Democracy looks like. This ain’t it,’ Crockett said gesturing to the Treasury building.

She warned that the U.S. faces a constitutional crisis, stating ‘the crisis is here.’

Senator Chris Van Hollen noted Musk gave $250 million to elect Trump and said Trump turned over the keys to the U.S. government to Musk. He called it the most ‘corrupt bargain’ in U.S. history.

‘Are we going to let that stand? H**l no we’re not going to let that stand,’ the senator declared. He said they are witnessing a heist and accused Musk of stealing social security numbers.

At one point, protesters changed ‘lock him up.’

Senator Murphy warned they have just days to ‘stop the destruction of our democracy.’

Before giving remarks, Democratic lawmakers were turned away when they tried to access the Treasury Department to conduct ‘oversight.’

Trump can't understand Afghan journalist's question

By NIkki Schwab, Chief Campaign Correspondent

President Donald Trump didn’t even pretend to understand what a journalist from Afghanistan tried to ask him during his White House press conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He asked the woman where she was from and she was joined by other journalists in the room saying ‘Afghanistan.’

‘Actually, it’s a beautiful voice and a beautiful accent. The only problem is, I can’t understand a word you say,’ Trump said. ‘But I just say this, good luck, live in peace.’

Breaking:Trump says U.S. will 'take over and own' Gaza and send troops 'if necessary'

The U.S. will take over the Gaza strip and we will do a job with it, too. We’ll own it, and be responsible for dismantling all the dangerous, unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site.

Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings, level it out, create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area. Do a real job.

When Trump was asked if he would send U.S. troops into Gaza, he responded ‘if necessary.’

President Donald Trump gave high marks to his 27-year old press secretary Karoline Leavitt during the first formal press conference of his term.

Speaking at the top of his press conference with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump ran through top cabinet members who were there, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, whom he congratulated. Trump said Secretary of State Marco Rubio was on the phone ‘listening to every single word that we say, and he’s going to be great.’ Then he turned to Leavitt.

‘Karoline has been doing a great job. She’s really probably talked about more than anybody here,’ Trump quipped.

‘She’s done a fantastic job. And thank you very much, Karoline,’ Trump said. Leavitt has clashed with members of the mainstream media during her early briefings, while calling on new online and conservative outlets.

One person Trump forgot to single out at first was Vice President JD Vance. ‘Please, vice president, stand up,’ Trump said at the start of a question-and-answer period after both leaders spoke.

Netanyanu calls Trump 'the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House'

By Nikki Schwab, Chief Campaign Correspondent

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid President Donald Trump the highest compliment as he was greeted as the first foreign leader guest of Trump’s second term.

You are the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House.

Netanyahu’s comment came as part of a bilateral press conference Trump hosted in the East Room Tuesday night.

Earlier Bibi was asked if Trump or President Joe Biden was more instrumental in helping ink a ceasefire deal.

Netanyahu hinted that the answer was Trump – as the two have long been more politically aligned.

By Emily Goodin, senior White House correspondent

President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in the Oval Office on Tuesday.

Trump expanded on his desire to have Palestinians relocated out of the Gaza Strip, and this time said he thought it would be a permanent relocation.

‘It would be my hope that we could do something really nice, really good, where they wouldn’t want to return. Why would they want to return? The place has been hell,’ he told reporters.

‘You take certain areas and you build really good quality housing, like a beautiful town, like some place where they can live and not die, because Gaza is a guarantee that they’re going to end up dying. The same thing is going to happen again. It’s happened over and over again,’ he added.

‘I hope that we can do something where they wouldn’t want to go back, who wouldn’t want to go back, they experienced nothing but death and destruction.’

He said ‘all of them’ should be relocated.

‘All of them. Probably a million seven people, seven, maybe a million eight. But I think all of them. They would be resettled where they can live a beautiful life.’

He suggested Jordan and Saudi Arabia would take them.

Trump added: ‘I heard that Gaza has been very unlucky for them. They live like hell. They live like they’re living in hell. Gaza is not a place for people to be living, and the only reason they want to go back, and I believe this strongly, is because they have no alternative.’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the White House Tuesday afternoon. President Donald Trump greeted him outside.

Protesters were outside the White House gate shouting ‘shame’ and ‘free Palestine’ as Netanyahu arrived.

It’s Trump first in-person meeting with a foreign leader since returning to the Oval Office.

The two men are expected to talk about the second phase of the ceasefire with Hamas, a possible nuclear threat from Iran, and a potential deal to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia.

Trump told reporters earlier Tuesday that people living in Gaza should want to relocate.

‘I feel very differently about Gaza than a lot of people. I think they should get a good, fresh, beautiful piece of land, and we get some people to put up the money to build it and make it nice and make it habitable,’ he said in the Oval Office. ‘I don’t know how they could want to stay. It’s a demolition.’

Breaking:Trump reveals he has left instructions to 'obliterate' Iran if it assassinates him

President Donald Trump issued a chilling warning to Iran if they tried to assassinate him.

Trump signed an order in the Oval Office Tuesday that detailed a ‘maximum pressure’ campaign against Iran, as he worked to prevent the Middle Eastern nation from getting a nuclear weapon.

The president said he was ‘torn’ when signing the order – which prompted the question why he was hesitant when Iranian leaders have threatened to assassinate Trump and his allies over the U.S. killing of Qud force leader Qasem Soleimani.

‘If they did that, they would be obliterated,’ Trump responded. ‘I have left instructions. If they do it, they get obliterated, there won’t be anything left.’

Purge begins as DOGE enters FBI to obtain names of 5,000 agents who worked January 6 cases and face firing

The FBI is being forced by Elon Musk’s DOGE to hand over the names of 5,000 officials who worked on January 6 cases.

Those officials could face being fired for failing the Trump ‘loyalty test’ being given to rank-and-file employees.

Officials working for Musk at DOGE were spotted by CNN entering FBI headquarters on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., to collect the information.

FBI agents filed a lawsuit Tuesday to block the release of their names or identifying information after Trump administration officials demanded information on who worked on January 6-related cases.

They say their jobs could be terminated within days.

‘The very act of compiling lists of persons who worked on matters that upset Donald Trump is retaliatory in nature, intended to intimidate FBI agents and other personnel, and to discourage them from reporting any future malfeasance and by Donald Trump and his agents,’ according to the suit.

Last week, several top FBI and Justice Department officials who were involved in Trump investigations were pushed out.

The firing of rank-and-file agents and the heads of 20 FBI field offices was announced on Friday as those who were fired were ‘escorted out.’

A source familiar said agents who worked on the Mar-a-Lago and January 6 investigations were escorted out of the Washington Field Office.

The source added that officials in charge of the DC, Miami, Seattle, New Orleans and Las Vegas field offices were removed.

Democratic senator slams Tulsi Gabbard after her nomination advances

Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) blasted President Trump’s pick for director of national intelligence after the Senate Intelligence Committee voted to advance her nomination nine to eight.

Time and again, Ms. Gabbard has elevated conspiracy theories, parroted dictators’ talking points, and repeatedly undermined our country’s national security. Her poor judgment and lack of national security experience make her wholly unqualified to keep Americans safe as our Director of National Intelligence,’ Heinrich said in a statement.

Ms. Gabbard’s responses during her nomination hearing made this clear, refusing to call Edward Snowden a traitor and, in response to my questions, falsely denying knowledge of comments by a Syrian cleric she met with in 2017 who threatened to unleash suicide bombers in the United States,’ he continued.

Heinrich called Gabbard a ‘national security risk’ who appears to ‘trust information from every other source but the Intelligence Community.’

'ICE Barbie' Kristi Noem has a message for border agents falsely accused of whipping migrants

Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem rode horseback alongside the Border Patrol agents that Joe Biden falsely accused of whipping migrants in a show of support.

Her tour with the agents came during a recent trip to Del Rio, Texas, to examine first-hand the U.S.-Mexico border.

On the trip she again dressed in Border Patrol gear and a cowboy hat to complete the ‘ICE Barbie’ look she has been donning while out on assignment.

‘Some of the agents we rode with today were the ones that were falsely accused of whipping those Haitian migrants,’ she told ‘Fox & Friends’ host Lawrence Jones.

Infamous September 2021 pictures show some Border Patrol agents on horseback dealing with a group of migrants with raised cords, which some branded as whips. Biden and many others skewered the agents for the imagery.

So Noem decided to ride with these officers to send them a message: Donald Trump and his DHS secretary stand with them.

‘So, to ride with them today and have them know that their leadership has their back, I think is critically important,’ she said.

Biden and his DHS chief Alejandro Mayorkas have never apologized for their public shaming of these agents.

Trump preparing plans to dismantle the 'woke' Department of Education through executive order

President Donald Trump’s administration is preparing an executive order to begin dismantling the Education Department – while acknowledging the president lacks the authority to kill the agency entirely.

Trump vowed during the campaign to end what he called ‘wokeness’ and ‘indoctrination’ at the agency.

Now, as Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is shutting down the congressionally authorized U.S. Agency for International Development with Trump’s approval, his administration will take steps to defund the federal Education Department.

White House fires back at Democrats urging fed employees to reject Trump's buyout as over 20,000 take offer

By Nikki Schwab, Chief Campaign Correspondent

The White House is firing back at Democrats and union bosses who urged federal employees not to take a ‘buyout’ currently on the table for millions of workers.

It came after the American Federation of Government Employees union warned the offer could be a trick.

The union claimed President Donald Trump and DOGE leader Elon Musk may not have the authority to make such an offer – meaning federal employees who quit might not get paid out.

But the Trump administration’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) pushed back on those fears in a statement to DailyMail.com.

‘Union leaders and politicians telling federal workers to reject this offer are doing them a serious disservice,’ spokeswoman McLaurine Pinover said. ‘This is a rare, generous opportunity – one that was thoroughly vetted and intentionally designed to support employees through restructuring.’

Pinover added: ‘Instead of spreading misinformation and using workers as political pawns, they should be making sure federal employees have the facts and freedom to make the best decision for themselves and their families,’ she added.

Inside Trump loyalist Pam Bondi's VERY turbulent love life

She’s maintained a very successful career as a lobbyist and politician, and Pam Bondi is now enjoying the role of US attorney general thanks to President Donald Trump.

The 59-year-old, who began her career as a prosecutor and spokeswoman in Hillsborough County, Florida, has certainly climbed the ranks in the world of politics – but she has a rather colorful personal life too.

Bondi has been married twice – with both unions ending in divorce – as well as also being engaged once more over a decade ago before settling down with current boyfriend John Wakefield.

The blonde beauty first tied the knot back in 1990 when she married Garret Barnes at the age of 24.

However, the marriage was short lived and lasted just 22 months before they parted ways.

In 1996, Bondi went on to marry Scott Fitzgerald but that union also ended in divorce in 2002.

Ten years later, Bondi – who holds a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice – got engaged to ophthalmologist Greg Henderson.

The pair sparked rumors that they had secretly wed that same year in 2012 after being photographed at a luxury Caribbean resort, with Bondi wearing a white dress.

Exclusive:Senator reveals 'crazy' USAID threatened her when she tried to curb its spending last year

Sen. Joni Ernst is accusing USAID of intimidating and threatening her team in a brazen effort to obstruct congressional oversight.

Speaking with DailyMail.com, the Iowa Republican tore into the agency, which has been effectively shuttered by Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leader Elon Musk.

Originally, USAID was established in 1961 to award U.S. taxpayer cash to countries for important education, infrastructure, health and other projects. It has been credited for helping developing countries get vital resources like medicine and food.

But as Musk’s DOGE team began investigating the department’s expenditures, they were aghast with what they found and decided to ‘shut it down.’

Spending included millions of taxpayer dollars to expand LBGT employment initiatives in Serbia and fund transgender health clinics in India and Vietnam.

As of Tuesday USAID’s fate hangs in limbo and Secretary of State Marco Rubio has taken over control after finding ‘insubordination’ among the agency’s top ranks.

‘Defiant’ workers are a hallmark of USAID, Ernst accused in the interview with DailyMail.com.

The senator from Iowa said that the agency stonewalled her last year when she tried to investigate the agency’s money flow.

Tulsi Gabbard faces tough hurdle after Edward Snowden grilling

Sarah Ewll-Wice, Senior U.S. Political Reporter on Capitol Hill:

The Senate Intelligence Committee will hold a vote on Tuesday on the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard to serve as Director of National Intelligence.

Some GOP senators expressed reservations after Gabbard refused to call Edward Snowden a ‘traitor’ at her confirmation hearing last week.

She needs the support of every Republican on the panel to advance her nomination.

Ahead of the vote, one Republican holdout, Senator Todd Young, announced on X that he would support her confirmation.

He posted a letter from Gabbard in which she made several commitments to him including holding those suspected of disclosing intelligence without authorization accountable and not making any recommendations on the legal standing of Snowden.

She also wrote that she would inform the committee on any foreign travel and visits with agents or officials from foreign governments.

‘Having now secured these commitments, I will support Tulsi’s nomination and look forward to working with her to protect our national security,’ Young posted.

Karoline Leavitt made history when she became America’s youngest press secretary at 27, but the high achiever is also a devoted mother and loving wife.

Leavitt, who is known for her gun-loving ways and conservative values, had her first White House briefing on Tuesday, delivering barbed insults to ‘legacy media’ as well as announcing that social media influencers and content creators will be able to attend her briefings.

She then we on to declare ‘sanity has been restored,’ and that ‘Trump is everywhere again,’ immediately becoming the MAGA darling of the Trump administration.

15:49

Who is Tulsi Gabbard's husband Abraham Williams?

President Donald Trump picked former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to serve as his Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

Her confirmation hearing took place on Capitol Hill last Thursday, and her nomination is facing a major test with a committee vote on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old’s nomination – and her sharp switch from a Democratic presidential candidate in 2020 to now a pro-Trump Republican – has sparked interest from members of both parties.

She was quickly labeled as one of Trump’s more controversial picks.

Critics pounced on her previous push of conspiracy theories and claim she has an affinity for hawkish dictators such as Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syria’s Bashar al-Assad.

More recently her increased public rise has drawn attention to Gabbard’s husband, Abraham Williams, a camera operator and cinematographer with four IMDB credits.

Breaking:MAGA pressure on Republican holdout saves RFK Jr.'s nomination

Sarah Ewall-Wice, Senior U.S. Political Reporter on Capitol Hill:

President Donald Trump’s Cabinet pick Robert Kennedy Jr. squeaked through to advance his nomination for secretary of health and human services.

Kennedy was a controversial nominee who was put under the microscope for his stances on vaccinations, abortion and for promoting conspiracy theories.

He needed the support of every Senate Republican on the Senate Finance Committee for his nomination to move forward to a full vote in the Senate, and in the end he was able to advance along party lines with Republicans putting him through.

Sen. Bill Cassidy, a physician, had major concerns with Kennedy’s ever-changing position on vaccines leading up to the vote.

But it appears Trump and his MAGA allies successfully pressured the senator to back Kennedy, getting him over the procedural hurdle.

‘I’ve had very intense conversations with Bobby and the White House over the weekend and even this morning,’ Cassidy wrote on X.

‘I want to thank VP JD specifically for his honest counsel. With the serious commitments I’ve received from the administration and the opportunity to make progress on the issues we agree on like healthy foods and a pro-American agenda, I will vote yes,’ he said ahead of the vote.

Trump’s selection for attorney general, Pam Bondi, could have her Senate confirmation vote in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Senators voted 52 – 46 to end the debate on the former Florida AG and send her nomination to the floor for a full vote.

The soonest this vote could happen would be Wednesday around 1 am ET.

However, the lawmakers could strike a deal to vote on Bondi’s confirmation sooner or just come in and take the vote on Thursday morning.

President Donald Trump will welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House Tuesday for his first in-person meeting with a foreign leader since returning to the Oval Office.

The two men are expected to talk about the second phase of the ceasefire with Hamas, a possible nuclear threat from Iran, and a potential deal to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia.

Trump seems hesitant about the fragile peace in the Middle East.

‘I have no guarantees that the peace is going to hold,’ he told reporters on Monday.

The president and Netanyahu will hold an Oval Office meeting and a press conference as part of the Israeli leader’s visit.

The leaders developed a close relationship in Trump’s first term, in contrast to Netanyahu’s cooler one with Joe Biden. The Israeli prime minister is expected to receive a warm welcome when he arrives in the afternoon.

And that could help him back home where his approval rating is on the downslide as he deals with an on going corruption trial. Trump, however, remains very popular in Israel and that could prove a boost to Netanyahu.

Exclusive:Insiders reveal how JD Vance is navigating a 'unique' relationship with Trump… and their shared trait

On Inauguration Day, President Donald Trump celebrated his newly minted Vice President JD Vance, a former Marine, with members of the Armed Forces at the Commander in Chief ball.

‘They used to say bad things about [Vance]. Now, all of a sudden, he’s very well respected,’ Trump commented.

Both Trump and Vance had been ridiculed as ‘weird’ by Democrats during the campaign, but now they were grinning on stage wearing tuxedos and wielding sabers to cut into a massive cake. Their wives Usha and Melania stood and watched and warfighters in the audience roared with approval.

The pair saluted the crowd with their swords as President Trump did the Trump dance and Vance used his arms to spell out the letters Y-M-C-A to his running mate’s theme song.

For Trump and Vance it was a crowning moment of their political journey, but it also marked the beginning of a unique relationship between the president and vice president as they take office.

Exclusive:Trump's FBI nominee Kash Patel's, 44, country star girlfriend Alexis Wilkins, 26, revealed

President Donald Trump’s FBI nominee Kash Patel had a flurry of close friends and family gathered in the front row of his Senate confirmation hearing last week.

Among those guests included Alina Habba, Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions Ric Grenell, Patel’s parents who traveled all the way from India for the hearing, and his sister.

And one glamorous mystery woman seated behind Patel in a show of support has now been revealed to be his girlfriend – country music artist Alexis Wilkins.

Patel, 44, met Wilkins, 26, at a conservative ReAwaken America event in October 2022, an insider told DailyMail.com. They started dating just a few months later in January 2023.

This came to the dismay of MAGA internet users as online searches about whether Patel was single spiked during his confirmation hearing on Thursday.

While Patel has never been married, he has been with Wilkins for over two years now and are serious about continuing their relationship.

The pair is making the move to Washington, D.C., together, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

China strikes back: Beijing brings in stiff tariffs on cars, trucks, coal, oil and takes aim at Google, Calvin Klein and high tech products as new trade wars loom

China has retaliated against President Donald Trump’s tariffs by implementing some of its own, renewing a trade war between the world’s top two economies.

The measures, announced by China’s Finance Ministry, levy a 15 per cent duty on certain types of coal and liquefied natural gas and a 10 per cent tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large-displacement cars and pickup trucks.

The country has separately imposed export controls on several elements critical to the production of modern high-tech products.

Many of the impacted minerals are essential to US economic or national security and have supply chains vulnerable to disruption.

Gabbard and RFK Jr. face key confirmation hurdles with committee votes Tuesday

Sarah Ewall-Wice, Senior U.S. Political Reporter:

The Senate Finance Committee is set to vote on the nomination of Robert Kennedy Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services on Tuesday.

If he is successfully voted out of the committee, it will head ot the Senate floor, but it is unclear whether he has the votes.

Some Republicans including Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) were ‘struggling’ with his nomination and raised concerns about this past work against vaccinations and basic understanding of Medicare and Medicaid at what were brutal confirmation hearings last week.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is also expected to hold a vote on Tuesday on the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard to serve as Director of National Intelligence, a source confirmed.

Some GOP senators expressed reservations after Gabbard refused to call Edward Snowden a ‘traitor’ at her confirmation hearing last week.
