Donald Trump is tearing into Apple and the European Union teasing major new tariffs as he escalates his trade war.
Trump threatened new 25 percent tariffs on iPhones if the company led by Tim Cook does not manufacture the product in the U.S.
‘I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone’s that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.
‘If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S. Thank your for your attention to this matter!’
And he’s considering slapping a 50 percent tariff on the EU after trade talks tanked.
The news tariffs could increase prices for American consumers on technology, cars, pharmaceuticals, machinery, petroleum oils, alcohol and more.
