President Donald Trump brushed off accusations that the Justice Department was slow-walking the release of more Epstein files to protect friends of the president.

‘They’re trying to get people to talk about something that’s totally irrelevant to the success we’ve had as a nation since I’ve been president,’ Trump complained.

The president was hosting Polish President Karol Nawrocki in the Oval Office when Trump was asked about the Epstein files – including whether ‘friends’ or ‘donors’ were being shielded.

Trump’s meeting with the Polish leader was happening as a press conference with the late pedophile’s victims was taking place across town on Capitol Hill.

Trump called the Epstein controversy a ‘Democrat hoax that never ends.’

‘It reminds me a little of the Kennedy situation, we gave them everything, over and over again, more, more, more. And nobody’s ever satisfied,’ the president said, referencing his administration’s release of more JFK assassination files.

On Wednesday morning, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie – who has been a thorn in Trump’s side – and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna hosted a press conference where close to a dozen Epstein victims told their stories.

Chauntae Davies, a former actress and an Epstein victim, highlighted Epstein’s relationship with Trump.

‘[Epstein’s] biggest brag, forever, was that he was very good friends with Donald Trump,’ Davies told the crowd.

‘He had an 8×10 framed picture of him on his desk, with the two of them, they were very close,’ she added.

Massie and some of Trump’s top congressional allies – including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert – are bucking House GOP leadership and backing a discharge petition that aims to force the Trump administration to release everything the government has on Epstein.

Another prominent Republican voice, Rep. Nancy Mace, is also supporting Massie’s action.

The House Oversight Committee was given 33,295 pages of Epstein files from the Justice Department last month.

On Tuesday, the GOP-led committee released the pages after reviewing them.

A Daily Mail review of the fresh files found that many of them were already reported, though they did include some new information, including a video of Epstein’s jail unit the night of his death.

The bipartisan Epstein bill would force the DOJ to release even more files.

Massie has said he doesn’t believe Trump is personally implicated in the Epstein files, but claimed in July that some of the president’s ‘friends’ were probably named.

‘And I always presumed that there were at least some of Trump’s friends named in this, and that might be why,’ the Kentucky Republican told reporters, discussing the reluctance on the part of the Trump White House to release the whole trove of DOJ documents.
