A California widow has received her annual Valentine’s Day bouquet from her dead husband, who arranged for her to get flowers forever after he passed away.

Diana Maver, 77, was married to her beloved John for almost 50 years before he died in October 2017. They shared three children together – and even beyond the grave, John has made sure his wife feels special on February 14.

Each Valentine’s Day since his passing, Diana has been awoken to a bouquet of white lilies and roses on her doorstep at her East Bay home – which John organized for her.

Maver told ABC7: ‘We were married 47 years, but we actually met in high school when we were 16 years old.’

Their daughter Marilee Heard said: ‘Through whatever magic works in his world, it’s set up so that every year a bouquet of flowers shows up on her doorstep from my dad.

‘When these flowers arrive, you should see the smile that comes on her face. It’s just incredible, the joy that washes over her.

‘She’s just knows, she knows he’s there with her. Roses and lilies, white lilies. They represented our love for each other.

‘Love can exist through life and through death. My dad, he is the ultimate romantic guy.’

Each year, the same bundle of buds and the same card arrives. John set up the reoccurring payment for the rest of Diana’s life, so that she never is without flowers on the day of love.

The card she receives reads: ‘I have but one heart and that is you. You will always be my Valentine.’

February 14 is a day where lovers show that there are no bounds when it comes to their affections for one another.

In Texas, a lovestruck has gone to the US-Mexico border every Valentine’s Day in hopes of reuniting with a woman he met 28 years ago.

Marine Corps vet Esteban Perez, also known as the ‘soldier of love,’ is known for standing in full uniform on a street corner in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, while holding flowers and waiting his heart’s desire, who he has named only as Cecilia.

While the 59-year-old claimed that last year would be the last time he tried to reunite with Cecilia, local Mexican outlets have reported he was seen again on Wednesday fulfilling his yearly Valentine’s Day tradition.

Perez, who now lives in Laredo, Texas, reportedly met Cecilia at a nightclub in the border town in 1996.

He has previously said the two dated for a few months before Cecilia broke things up.

It’s not clear why they separated but The Washington Post previously cited local reports that claim it had something to do with his military duties.

Because he did not know how to contact her or where she went, Perez started the Valentine’s Day tradition a few years after they separated.

‘I will only stop coming if she is married or she has children,’ Perez once said.

‘I have never married, don’t have children and I have never looked for another girl because I would never see in any other girl what I saw in Cecilia.’

Perez, who has never revealed Cecilia’s full name, has become known in Nuevo Loredo for his Valentine’s Day traditions.

But locals said they have mixed feelings about the gesture.

‘He looks very handsome in his suit,’ said one local last year. ‘She’s missing out.’

Another added: ‘Let him have some therapy… it’s been 25 years (sic).

‘It takes about six months to get over a bereavement. After that time we need an intervention.’
