The ‘heartbroken’ family of a 15-year-old boy who died after a fatal collision in Hampshire has paid tribute to the ‘lovely and caring’ teenager ‘with a cheeky smile’, as police confirmed a woman has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
Ryan Marshall was seriously injured following the incident in New Street, Andover, close to ATS Tyres, on Saturday evening.
Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 6pm and Ryan was taken to hospital, but died from his injuries on Sunday.
The 29-year-old driver of a silver Ford Fiesta, from Andover, has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs.
She has been released from police custody but remains under investigation pending further enquiries.
Paying tribute to the teenager from Andover today, Ryan’s mum said: ‘Ryan was a lovely, caring boy with a cheeky smile and wicked, cheeky sense of humour.
‘He was loved so much by me, the family and everyone who knew him. We are all very heart-broken that he was taken from us.’
Specialist officers are supporting Ryan’s family as detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to investigate the incident.
Hampshire Police is appealing for any witnesses to come forward, who were either in the area at the time or captured dash cam footage of the incident.
