A smitten Travis Kelce came under fire for fawning over Taylor Swift during Wednesday night’s special episode of New Heights.

The Chiefs tight end welcomed his girlfriend on to the hit podcast he co-hosts with brother Jason to discuss their relationship and to unveil the cover of her 12th album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, which will be released October 3.

Swift briefly broke down in tears as she opened up on her long battle to reclaim her masters. She also lifted the lid on her whirlwind romance with Kelce, her father’s recent heart surgery and her epic Eras Tour.

And the NFL star quickly went viral after showering his girlfriend in compliments and affection. ‘I’m the luckiest man in the world,’ Kelce said repeatedly.

The couple finished the episode with a kiss, after he was also seen holding and stroking Swift’s hand and even kissing her head – much to the anger of some of the 1.3million fans who tuned in for the live stream.

‘New heights!?! more like new lows full of cringe,’ one wrote. ‘New Heights tswift release s*** is so cringey,’ said a second.

‘It’s embarrassing. Travis Kelce is so very cringe,’ said a third. ‘Friendship ended with taylor swift this podcast is so f***ing cringe,’ wrote a fourth. Another took aim at Swift, adding: ‘I can’t stand her or her boyfriend Travis Kelce’

Those comments came after Kelce gushed over his girlfriend during the near-two-hour show on Wednesday night.

‘I give the Eras Tour credit (for our relationship) because if I had never gone to that show and been mesmerized and captivated and left with such a desire to want to meet you, I would never have gone on here and told everyone how butt-hurt I was,’ Kelce said. ‘I have never been just so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were.’

Kelce also opened up on their first meeting, telling the 1million-plus fans watching: ‘She makes me so much better… (to) see you on the stage and you see how crazy you can get an entire stadium going and then I get you in a room and it’s like I’ve known you forever.

‘It was the easiest conversation I ever had and it was just so much fun that it just knocked my socks off. She blew me away and I had never experienced something so mesmerizing on stage and then so real and so beautiful in person.’

Kelce’s comments prompted his brother Jason to joke: ‘Should I leave?’

Earlier in the show, Swift fought back tears as she opened up on years-long crusade to reclaim the masters of her music, prompting Kelce to kiss his girlfriend on the head.

Swift explained how Kelce was playing video games when she found out she had got the rights back. The NFL star began weeping when he was told. Swift had sent her mother and brother to Los Angeles to negotiate on her behalf with Shamrock Capital, the private equity firm that owned the music.

‘I haven’t gotten my hopes up about this in a decade. A couple months after the Super Bowl I was in Kansas City,’ Swift said, adding that she had been saving to buy her masters since she was a teenager.

It was a PDA-heavy appearance from the couple in a long interview about their life together

‘I get a call from my mom. She’s like, “You got your music.” I very dramatically hit the floor for real. Bawling my eyes out, weeping, like “Really?” I said to myself “Go tell Travis in a normal way.”

‘He was playing video games, and he put his headset down. I was like “I got my music back!” And I was heaving crying. This changed my life.’

Swift also joked that Travis used New Heights as a dating app when he publicly revealed how he had tried and failed to give Swift his phone number after watching her perform at Arrowhead Stadium back in 2023. His confession eventually sparked the start of their relationship.

‘This podcast had done a lot for me. This podcast got me a boyfriend,’ Swift said. ‘It was wild, but it worked. He is the good kind of crazy. The first time we talked, he was truly getting to know me. He is just a vibe booster in everyone’s life that he’s in. He’s like an exclamation point.’

The pop sensation is now a regular at Kansas City Chiefs games but Swift revealed how little she knew about football before meeting Kelce. ‘I’m not ready to be analyst right now but give me 16 months,’ she joked, adding that she is now ‘obsessed’ with the NFL.

‘I didn’t know what a first down was, I didn’t know what the chains were, I didn’t know what a tight end (Kelce’s position) was.’

She explained to Travis’ older brother, Jason: ‘On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl (in February 2023) and he looked across the field, across the line of scrimmage, and saw his brother standing 5ft in front of him on the field… I now know what an insane question that was.

‘He was like: “Actually I’m on the offense and my brother is the offense and I’m only on the field at the same time as the defense.” I thought everyone was out there at the same time.’

After nearly two hours, the YouTube live stream abruptly cut out due to a technical issue. New Heights posted on social media that it was a glitch and that there was still more to come. They also joked that fans had helped them ‘break the internet’.

Before then, however, Swift had lifted the lid on her parents’ recent health struggles. The 35-year-old revealed that her father Scott required ‘intense’ quintuple bypass surgery, while her mother had undergone a knee replacement.

Andrea was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and five years later it was revealed that she had developed a brain tumor.

‘My dad had an interesting summer, he actually had a quintuple bypass surgery. And that’s a really intense surgery,’ Swift said. Thankfully, however, she revealed that Scott is now ‘doing incredibly well.’

Bypass surgery usually requires open-heart treatment, an invasive procedure in which the breast bone can be cut in order to spread the ribs apart to access the heart, according to the Mayo Clinic.

For many fans, the highlight of Wednesday’s New Heights was the unveiling of Swift’s new album cover. During the show, the 35-year-old explained that she recorded ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ while on her record-breaking Eras Tour.

‘I would do like three shows in a row. I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and was actually working on this,’ Swift said.

‘I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating,’ she explained.

Kelce pointed out that she was ‘was literally living the life of a showgirl’ and Swift replied: ‘That’s why I called [the album] that. Nailed it.’

Swift read the entire 12-song track list, with Kelce later teasing fans by claiming the record is ‘a lot more upbeat and ‘a complete 180 from the songs’ on Swift’s 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department.
