Timothée Chalamet had fans scratching their heads when Saturday Night Live announced he’d be pulling double duty for an upcoming episode.

The iconic sketch show revealed on social media Friday that the 29-year-old actor would host for the third time and serve as the musical guest for the first time on the January 25th episode.

The news caught many off guard, given that Chalamet is globally renowned for his acting roles in Little Women, Call Me By Your Name, and Dune.

Just days earlier, he had been spotted at the Golden Globes with his stunning girlfriend Kylie Jenner.

However, the lightbulb quickly went off for followers, as Timothée is getting major Oscar buzz for his role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, where he’s not just acting but also singing his own songs.

Social media quickly lit up with fans playfully speculating whether Chalamet would perform as the 83-year-old singer-songwriter during his musical appearance, with some even wondering if he’d dress up as Dylan.

‘Will he be Timothée Chalamet singing, or Bob Dylan?’ one fan wrote.

Another added, ‘Timothée Chalamet performing as Bob Dylan on SNL will cement him for the Oscar.’

Even New York Magazine joined the conversation, wondering, ‘Will Timothée Chalamet sing songs in character as Bob Dylan when he performs as musical guest on the January 25 episode of ‘SNL’? It sure seems likely.’

One longtime fan of both Chalamet and Dylan imagined the ultimate crossover: ‘The coolest thing that could possibly happen during Timothée Chalamet’s SNL musical performance would be for him to start playing and singing ‘Railroad Bill’ solo on electric guitar, only for the real Bob Dylan to unexpectedly pop up behind him and start playing along on harmonica.’

Of course, one fan humorously referenced Chalamet’s Dune gig, writing, ‘Chalamet singing the Dune soundtrack.’

And another fan suggested a song from Wonka, writing, ‘Imagine if Timothée Chalamet doesn’t sing Bob Dylan on SNL, and instead belts out Pure Imagination.’

Fans are also buzzing to see if Kylie will join Timothée in the Big Apple for the big SNL event.

The couple has kept their two-year romance mostly out of the spotlight, carefully navigating the balance between Timothée’s rising Hollywood star power and the intense public interest in Kylie’s high-profile family.

‘Kylie and Timothée are still trying to figure out who they are as a couple,’ an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com. ‘There is no trouble in paradise, but there are things they still need to navigate.’

The insider continued, ‘They are both very attracted to each other, but Timothée is still trying to figure out his career, which is a lot to deal with. To add a relationship into the mix with someone like Kylie is a lot to juggle.’

The source added that their decision to keep things private has helped their relationship stay strong.

‘Being so secretive besides the odd award show is how they have managed to work, and Kylie understands that,’ they said. ‘She knows she can’t put the Kardashian spin on it, because if she does, the relationship will be too much to deal with for Timothée.’

‘She wants him around and is willing to sacrifice that to make her love life work,’ the source explained. ‘They understand people want to know more, but they want to keep a bunch of stuff to themselves, because they want to honor the success of the relationship.’

DailyMail.com has contacted reps for both Kylie and Timothée for comment.
