Tim McGraw has bowed out of an upcoming Netflix drama set in the high-octane world of bull riding.

The 57-year-old country music legend, who last appeared in 1883, the prequel to Yellowstone created by Taylor Sheridan, was originally slated to star and executive produce the untitled series.

However, with a back surgery looming on the horizon—and the extensive recovery it demands—McGraw has made the tough decision to step away from the physically grueling role, according to Deadline.

This follows McGraw’s knee surgery in August after an injury on tour, which has already forced him to cancel the rest of his 2024 concerts.

Announced in May 2024, the show centers on a champion bull rider who faces ‘life-or-death crossroads when confronted by the arrival of a fearless young rider whose existence challenges his ways and unearths secrets that force him to reckon with his past,’ per the outlet.

The series, from Skydance Television and McGraw’s own Down Home, is now up in the air, with recasting rumors flying as they figure out what’s next.

McGraw has long juggled a successful acting career alongside his country music stardom, with notable film roles in Friday Night Lights, Tomorrowland, The Blind Side, Country Strong, and more.

Most recently, he and his wife Faith Hill teamed up for the highly praised 1883.

The superstar couple recently saw their oldest daughter as she made her off-Broadway debut in September.

The couple share three daughters who have all followed in their footsteps by making a name for themselves in a wide variety of fields.

And their oldest child, Gracie, 27, landed herself a gig in the hit musical Babe.

Taking to Instagram, the One Bad Habit hitmaker shared a photo of Gracie’s headshot as he urged fans to ‘check out’ the budding star in the musical – adding that the couple are ‘so proud of her.’

The social media post revealed that Gracie – who previously made headlines when she hopped on stage and belted out a tune alongside her dad – had landed the lead role as Katherine.

It was captioned: ‘Check out our daughter Gracie in her debut!!! We are so proud of her!!’

A year after Tim and Faith tied the knot, the couple welcomed first daughter Gracie in 1997.

Growing up in Nashville, surrounded by her superstar parents and their electrifying performances, it’s no surprise that Gracie developed a passion for singing and being on stage.

In 2015, she gave fans a taste of her musical talent when she recorded vocals for Here Tonight on her dad’s Damn Country Music album.

The two even took the stage together to perform the song later that year.

While in college, Gracie formed a rock band called Tingo, where she took on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.

But eventually, she decided to shift her focus to a solo music career and pursue acting.
