Given the current state of US politics, one could be forgiven for wanting Martin Sheen back in the White House at the next available opportunity as the actor attended the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.
Sheen, who famously played fictional President Jed Bartlet in The West Wing, reunited with his former co-stars at the annual ceremony, some 18-years after the hugely successful political drama came to an end.
The legendary actor, 84, was joined by Allison Janney, Dulé Hill, Richard Schiff and Janel Moloney onstage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on the 25th anniversary of the show’s premiere while presenting the award for Outstanding Drama Series.
Janney, 64 – Press Secretary C.J Cregg in the hit show – radiated old Hollywood glamour in a black and red silk gown with-off-the-shoulder detailing while announcing Shōgun as the winner.
Meanwhile Schiff, 69, who played Communications Director Toby Ziegler across the show’s seven-year run, shared a red carpet kiss with actress Jazmyn Simon while posing for photos ahead of this year’s ceremony.

‘It’s hard to believe that just 25 years ago, Aaron and the writers actually had to use their imaginations to create interesting plotlines for The West Wing,’ she said.
Schiff added: ‘Unlike today, where storylines can be plucked right off the news – storylines that writers would have deemed a bit far-fetched, if not utterly ridiculous, 25 years ago.’
