Sunny Hostin branded Hispanic voters ‘sexist and misogynistic’ after Kamala Harris lost a significant portion of the voter bloc in the presidential election.
The View star clashed with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin as they led a liberal media-wide meltdown over Donald Trump’s thumping victory.
Farah Griffin, a former Trump administration official, brought up that Harris won Latino voters by just six points, despite Joe Biden winning the group by 33 points in 2020 and Hillary Clinton by 38 points in 2016.
‘Finally, we talk a lot about these different demographics and assumptions of where they’re going to go,’ Farah Griffin said, noting that one Texas district with a 97 percent Latino population ‘went 75 percentage points for Donald Trump.’
‘Why?’ she questioned, before Hostin interrupted her co-host and said ‘misogyny.’
Farah Griffin grew irate and threw her hands in the air at Hostin’s remark, and stressed that liberals ‘need to take some lessons’ from Trump’s resounding win.
‘No! It’s the border!’ Griffin responded to Hostin.
‘The border crisis is on their doorstep, and they were begging people to care about it for years, and we need to take some lessons.’
Hostin then doubled down on her comment and insisted again that ‘misogyny and sexism’ are the reason Hispanic voters rejected Harris.
‘The lessons are not misogyny and sexism!’ a maddened Farah Griffin responded.
As the panel descended into a hostile argument, Whoopi Goldberg waded into the spat and broke the tension with a joke, saying: ‘Knock knock, who’s there? Oh my gosh, it’s Whoopi.’
The exchange led many to criticize Hostin for broadly painting millions of Hispanic voters as bigoted while overlooking the reasons they may have voted for Trump, with one X user noting that ‘this is not going to work in future elections.’
‘These people are exhausting,’ added another. ‘My way or the highway is how they think, instead of wondering and asking themselves why Hispanics voted for Trump.’
It was not the first time the issue of Hispanic support for Trump upended The View, with Hostin also launching into a scathing rant just a week before election day after a Trump rally speaker branded Puerto Rico ‘garbage.’
Hostin, who is half Puerto Rican, said on an October 28 edition of the show ‘this Puerto Rican has something to say about the island that I love, where my family is from.’
‘Puerto Rico is trash…? We are Americans, Donald Trump.
‘We voluntarily serve disproportionately high in military, while you have bone spurs. And we vote.’
Despite The View’s clear opposition to Trump, Joy Behar – a frequent MAGA critic – attempted to offer words of comfort on Tuesday as she urged viewers to accept the result.
‘My takeaway is that the system works. We live in a democracy. People spoke. This is what people wanted,’ she said.
‘I vehemently disagree with the decision that Americans made. But I feel very, very hopeful that we have a democratic system in this country.
‘We should value it, we should love it, we should protest if the situation arises that we need to protest — which, I’m sure it will – It’s been very difficult, but, boy oh boy, do we have a country if we can keep it.’
