The Traitors took an emotional turn on Thursday evening as the final five contestants opened up about what the experience on the show has meant to them.

As Mollie, Andrew, Jaz, Harry and Evie gathered together for a celebratory dinner in preparation for the final tomorrow the group discussed just why winning the show and bagging the prize money would mean so much to each of them.

Things took an especially emotional turn for both Mollie and Andrew as the pair opened up about their health troubles and respective journeys to appearing on the show.

Disability model Mollie, 21, opened up for the first time on the show about being fitted with a stoma at 18 years-old as she candidly revealed how the life-changing surgery effected her.

She explained: ‘I’ve kind of spent most of my life since I was 11 quite unwell. I kind of wanted to advocate for people with limb difference and a stoma.

‘If I look back at myself three years ago I couldn’t even leave the house at points so to now be here running around with you guys is kind of crazy.’

Mollie was born with missing digits on her right hand and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when she was 11 resulting in an ileostomy to remove her colon.

She now wears a stoma bag that collects her waste and has posed proudly with it in shoots in a bid to dispel the stigma and normalise her disabilities.

Speaking to the camera she explained: ‘I really struggled to get my head around the fact that I was going to have a stoma.

‘I wasn’t prepared for it at 18 years-old you kind of just want to be out enjoying yourself with your friends and not having this life changing surgery.’

She continued: ‘Since my surgery I’ve got my life back. I realised I could wear what I wanted. I could go out, I can enjoy myself. It completely changed my life.

‘I had so much of my life taken away and controlled by my illness I want to live and I don’t want to regret not going travelling.’

Traitor Harry added: ‘What an amazing woman Mollie is and what she has gone through. It’s just so good to see her be the confident woman that she is and doing what she wants and listening to anyone. ‘She is just strong enough on her own.’

Meanwhile Andrew also opened up about the horrific road traffic accident which left him fighting for his life.

In Wednesday’s episode the insurance broker, 45, admitted he was given a ‘second chance a life’ after he was left with severe brain damage after being in a coma for five days after the traumatic accident.

Speaking about his trauma among his fellow contestants he made a heartbreaking confession as he admitted for many years he ‘hated’ what he saw in the mirror.

‘As most of you know I had my accident 24 years ago and I walked around with a chip on my shoulder for so long feeling resentful and angry at my accident at everything.

‘I looked at myself in the mirror for many years and hated what I saw until quite recently actually. I hated my scars, I hated everything really. So I just wanted to get out my comfort zone really.

‘When you have scars or a trauma in life you still keep on dreaming and keep on chasing your dreams and things will happen eventually you’ve just got to keep on believing in yourself.’
