Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner lit up the red carpet earlier this year as Hollywood’s hottest couple, but the A-list pair’s recent low profile has sparked speculation that they had called it quits after two years of dating.

But the Oscar nominee, 29, and the reality star, 28, reunited this week in Budapest – where Chalamet is filming Dune: Part Three – putting the split rumors to bed in a smiling selfie.

While the loved-up snap offered a sigh of relief for most fans of the couple, there’s undoubtedly one person who would’ve been thrilled if the breakup rumors were a reality: Club Chalamet.

With more than 60,000 followers across Instagram and X, the infamous stan account has earned a reputation for attempting to drive a wedge between the actor and the beauty guru.

But you’d be forgiven for thinking that this diehard fan page was run by a group of Chalamet devotees.

Indeed, it is a club of one: superfan Simone Cromer.

A self-described film critic – and that appears to mean posting movie reviews on Letterboxd – Cromer has been called a ‘film nut’ by those who knew her long before her infatuation with Chalamet began.

Nearly a decade ago, the 58-year-old moved to Los Angeles from Michigan – where she graduated from the University of Michigan in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology – to pursue her passion for celebrities and the entertainment industry.

Over the years, she has worked several jobs, primarily in healthcare, but has spent much of her free time volunteering at film festivals.

Cromer first became a fan of Chalamet’s in 2017 after she watched Luca Guadagnino’s adaptation of Call Me By Your Name. That December, she shared her first post about Chalamet to her personal Instagram account, in which she revealed that she made the star her desktop background.

And there was no turning back.

Cromer launched the Club Chalamet blog in spring 2018, she said, to connect with fellow Gen X fans of the actor after feeling ‘alienated by the younger fans,’ she once wrote in a blog post, affectionately referring to Chalamet as ‘Timmy.’

That was soon followed by the Club Chalamet Twitter, now X, account, which currently boasts more than 47,000 followers.

Club Chalamet began as innocently as most fan pages do. Cromer shared updates about his career, celebrity sightings, and singlehandedly took charge of his awards campaign each year.

She organizes an annual fundraiser for Chalamet’s birthday, and last December raised over $2,000 for Odyssey House – a non-profit organization that provides treatment for individuals living with drug and alcohol addiction, as inspired by Chalamet’s character in 2018’s Beautiful Boy.

And living in LA meant easier access to film screenings and premieres than back home in Michigan.

Soon, Cromer became a frequent face on the red carpet, where she’d stand on the sidelines and wait for Chalamet’s autograph.

A video from the Beautiful Boy premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018 captured Cromer front and center behind a barricade, waiting with a hoard of fans for Chalamet’s arrival.

She joined in with the screaming fans and pleaded for the actor to sign her copy of Beautiful Boy, the book by David Sheff that inspired the film. After he complied, Cromer could be heard telling him: ‘Thank you! You look fantastic.’

Since then, Club Chalamet has come face-to-face with her idol several times, including at Coachella in April 2022 – which she said was with the help of ‘manifesting’.

‘The universe hooked me up! I met Timmy after Brockhampton!!!!’ she captioned a selfie of the pair.

In her lengthy retelling of their supposed interaction, Cromer claimed Chalamet ‘held onto me’ as they walked together throughout the festival grounds and said ‘how grateful he is to all the work I do for him.’

But it was during the release of Wonka in late 2023 that Club Chalamet went into overdrive.

Not only did she see the children’s movie three times in theaters, but she also purchased for herself a long velvet coat to match the one worn by Chalamet in the film.

At the Los Angeles premiere for Wonka, where Cromer was waiting outside with other fans, she snapped a selfie with the actor and even got so close as to wrap her arm around him.

It was at that same premiere that Chalamet’s then-rumored girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, snuck into the theater with her mom Kris to support the star.

Chalamet and Jenner’s relationship reportedly began back in April 2023, but they didn’t take their romance public until September that year, when they were spotted kissing at Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour in Los Angeles.

Unsurprisingly, Cromer didn’t take the news well.

Cromer seemed to indicate in a social media post that their public appearance at the concert had sparked a psychotic frenzy throughout the fandom.

‘If you’re feeling distressed by the video [with Jenner], it’s OK. But please take care of yourself. Step away from social media for a couple of days,’ she wrote.

Cromer claimed in another post that ‘Slurpee’s stalking paid off’ – using the nickname she coined for the beauty mogul – and alleged Jenner’s team ‘commanded’ Chalamet to appear with her at the concert.

The next day, Cromer ranted on Twitter Spaces about Jenner for over 52 minutes and alleged the only reason Jenner was seen with Chalamet is because she has ‘blackmail’ on him.

Ever since, Club Chalamet’s intense detestation of Jenner has been well-documented, calling the youngest Kar-Jenner sister a ‘stalker’, blurring her face in photos with Chalamet and repeatedly calling the reality star by ‘Slurpee.’

‘We have adopted Slurpee to be synonymous with the low quality person who has stalked Timothée for publicity,’ Cromer once explained on Instagram.

After Chalamet and Jenner made their red-carpet debut at the David Di Donatello Awards in Italy last May, Cromer blurred out Jenner’s face and lamented about Jenner’s ‘attention hogging.’

Apart from insisting the pair are simply in a PR relationship, Cromer has also seemingly thrown shade at Jenner’s appearance: ‘When I was 26, I looked 19. Today, some 26 year olds look 42. That sucks for them.’

Most recently, Club Chalamet made a plea for both fans and the media to drown out the ‘piggybacking noise’ that is Jenner, as Chalamet gears up to promote his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, out Christmas Day.

Club Chalamet begged the actor to ditch his ‘guest’ in favor of friends, family or business associates for upcoming red carpets, claiming Jenner serves only to make him the ‘subject of savory unflattering gossip headlines.’

But an insider previously told the Daily Mail that the vitriol Jenner faces doesn’t ‘negatively impact their relationship,’ though she isn’t a fan of it.

‘Unless it starts getting dangerous, Timothée is not going to fuel or acknowledge the protest,’ the insider said. ‘He will continue to support the fun things his fans do like the look alike contests but he refuses to get involved with trolling.

‘He knows that Kylie monitors it and is bothered by it, but he wants her to know that it is just talk from jealous people who aren’t really his true fans.’

Although Cromer has a particular disdain for Chalamet’s relationship with Jenner, she’s surprisingly been kind to his girlfriends in the past, namely Lily-Rose Depp.

The couple, who met while filming 2019’s The King, dated for roughly a year and a half before their split.

In a blog post, Cromer once praised the nepo baby as ‘a darling girl, a good actress, with an awesome French-American pedigree of talented famous parents.’

‘I cannot think of a better match up for Timmy at this point,’ she said.

The Daily Mail has contacted Cromer and Chalamet’s reps for comment.

But as Club Chalamet gained more traction online – recognized as a news source for all things Chalamet and emboldened by thousands of fellow fans cheering her on – former co-workers soon learned about Cromer’s alter ego.

In a Reddit post from 2023, one user claimed they worked in retail with Cromer back in Michigan but had no idea about her A-list infatuation.

‘Other than her being at least twice the age of everyone including myself, she seemed mostly normal for the most part??’ they wrote.

‘She is a “film nut” so she would always take time off to go to festivals and screenings all over the country and sometimes internationally.’

To outsiders, it would seem as if Club Chalamet’s account would border on unhealthy obsession, but to Cromer, she insists that Club Chalamet isn’t like other fan pages.

When asked whether her account is the product of a parasocial relationship – a term that describes when a fan forms a one-sided connection with a public figure – Cromer took offense to the characterization.

‘The term is “Parasocial Relationships” and people are glee at their assumption that I fall under this tag,’ she wrote on Instagram in 2023.

‘Basically, the general gossip public that just heard of Club Chalamet for the first time in recent days, think I’m just a possessive delusional fan of Timothée Chalamet, championing his life while he doesn’t know I exist.

‘Well, I’m happy to burst your bubble, but please note he knows of me.’

But as Chalamet and Jenner’s romance still goes strong, it is Cromer’s bubble that might soon burst.

After all, Club Chalamet is not Cromer’s first fandom.

Cromer once ran a fan page for Michael Fassbender, and her personal Instagram page is filled with photos of print magazines featuring the actor on the cover. Coincidentally, her online devotion to Fassbender ended in 2017, the same year he married Alicia Vikander.

Could Club Chalamet, then, meet the same fate if Jenner and Chalamet tie the knot?

Only time will tell who might be next.
