The current season of The Block has been making headlines due to its heightened drama between contestants.

And it’s now been revealed the finale of the controversial show has reportedly been changed following complaints of bullying.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, the show had a more dramatic ending but Channel Nine decided to change it at the last minute.

‘This isn’t how the series was originally set to end… major edits were made to protect the brand,’ an insider told the publication.

The changes meant some contestants weren’t shown as much as others during the final episodes and there ‘isn’t a good comprehensive storyline’.

‘It is confusing for viewers as fan favourites are now behaving out of character,’ the source added.

It comes after it was revealed the n Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) had been inundated with complaints about the current season of The Block.

In just one week, ACMA registered a total of 28 complaints.

A spokesperson from ACMA told The n earlier this month: ‘The majority of the inquiries related to allegations of bullying, harassment and promotion of anti-social behaviour between contestants.’

However, Michael Healy, Nine’s Director of Television, has been unapologetic about the approach, saying that this season’s ratings speak for themselves.

‘The Block is an unrivalled powerhouse on n television. The fact that more than 40% of the country has tuned into this series is a phenomenal achievement.’

‘We never take the loyalty of our viewers for granted and look forward to delivering a cracking crescendo to the current season, before an unprecedented 20th series in 2024.’
